no you guys are all wrong, this song was written about a commerical fisher who's boat got knocked over by a large wave in the northern pacific near alska it later sank and the crew died, this is about him dying and leaving his new bride--the rest i assume are just metaphors of relationships in general |

this line reminds me and sums up perfectly of an off again - on again relationship especially my own where even when we go through long breaks of not being together you know it's not over and it you will eventually be together i again and when you do you remember how you longed for it
--i think this song is basicly the saddness and dullness you feel after somg type of relationship until you get back with that person how much more complete you feel with that person |

everytime i hear this song i get goosebumps this song reminds me of end of summer fall when school starts and when you walk around my town at least almost nobody is out and just all around being alone but not in an emo way this song i think is the hardest for me to put into words |
