This song is about a girl cheating on him but he still loves her and continues to be with her and never says anything.let me break it down. she spreads herself wide open to let the insects in (obviously talking about opening her legs and letting dirty men fuck her) she leaves a trail of honey to show me where she's been (she doesn't cover her tracks to well and Trent found out) she has the blood of reptile just underneath her skin (indicating that she's cold blooded/cold hearted based on what she has done to him) seeds from a thousand others drip down from within (talking about seeds as in sperm from all the other guys she has slept with) the part that lets you know that this is about a girl cheating on him would be where he calls her his beautiful liar,in a sarcastic way.Then calls her his precious whore.she's cheating on him,lying to his face about it but he still loves her for who she was. |

i think of this song as someone in high power but in a weird way i can also look at this song as the ruiner being a penis and the narrator is talking to his penis.I can see it as a person talking slick and persuading girls/guys to get in bed with them but the person wishes he wasn't like that but can't over come his sexual cravings.it especially makes me think that when put with the chorus "how dig you get so big,strong,hard long" and the line "maybe it's a part of me you took to a place".it comes along the lines of a man thinking with his dick instead of his brain but realizing what he is doing isn't right.it also makes sense on the account that this song is after "closer". |

| hurt has to be one of those songs that anybody can relate to and identify with in there own way.Trent only knows why he wrote the lyrics but it can be taken in so many different ways and thats why it's such a good song.but the way i look at this song from the albums point of view,it's the last song (the end).the album opens up with mr.self destruct and closes with hurt.I'm sure that the downward spiral was written based on a relationship that trent had with a woman.Pretty hate machine was exactly that and this is the downward spiral of the end of that relationship.that pretty much sums up what hurt is about.my favorite line is the opening "i hurt myself today to see if i still feel" implying that he has been hurt so bad that he is numb and feels nothing.you have to really being through a hard ache to be at that point.i have been close and can relate to those lyrics based on a relationship i had and lost and thats about the only thing that can send someone into such a downward spiral to self destruct,find other girls and treat them like shit to make the pain go away or to want to kill yourself over the whole ordeal.this album is perfect from front to back | |

| i agree with Vesiolio.Songs with multiple meanings are the best because those are the one's you can reflect on your own life and relate to in your own way.you can actually take the lyrics and apply it to a moment in your life.I hear this song and think of so many different things like stalker,grave robber or an idealist manifestation of the perfect girl that he wishes his wife would be but to me i can apply this to my life when i hear the lyric "i wont let this build up inside of me".No matter the situation i can always use that as therapy to help me through different problems i have.I'm sure that at least everybody in the world has secretly had feelings for a person and never came out with it but instead of obsessing over it you have to tell that person or let it go and stop letting it take over your mind.thats the true meaning and moral to this song in my eyes | |

| This song is about Corey's wife,Scarlet.Vermilion is the color red which hints "Scarlet" which is another red color.I first thought of this as a stalker song and then a grave robber song but i honestly think that this is a song based on his relationship.Everybody at some point picks apart there partner in there own mind and thinks to there self how they wish that person would be and i think that is what the song represents.The idealistic perfect partner but she's not like that and that's why she isn't real and he cant make her real.he says "she is something in me that i despise" because he's mad at the fact that his wife isn't the way he wants her to be.Thats just my opinion.maybe it really is a grave robber song where his loved died and he wont get over the fact that she's dead so he goes out and digs her up to take her back home.A Perfect Circle wrote a song like that called "blue". | |

i think this song is about being in love with someone and when you go through struggles in your relationship you wish that you could take the love away because it hurts you.when you love someone it can cause you to go crazy when you go through problems.he's just saying "if i didn't love this person as much as i did i wouldn't feel this way.love controls your heart like it's a machine with gears and makes you do things you wouldn't necessarily do normally. the big sum up is only through struggle can you understand how much you really love someone.you go through the bad times to get to the good times and if you can make it through and stick it out then that shows how much you love someone because you didn't up in leave when things got worse. |

| This i my favorite AILD song because i relate to it 100%.This song to me is about being in a relationship with someone that has a bad past and a history of being self destructive.you want to believe that this person can change so you grow attached to them for the purpose of trying to help them but they keep messing up because there so use to there old life style that they never understand or see the problem to the fool extent.They don't realize that something is wrong wile the other person gets tired of repeating the same words and going through the same issues and finally starts to "lose hope in there unchanging ways"."All of my strength cannot save you" because people can't/shouldn't change for another person.they should change for there own sake and the only way is if they truly want to.One must do these thing on there own and their unwilling to help themselves then they truly don't want to change and all you can do after that is give them an ultimatum or else you will stay there in that relationship and take care of that person for ever.to watch over them in fear that they might hurt themself which is the wrong reason to care about someone that you want to love in a relationship...i know i probably rambled and over explained things but atleast my point is made. | |
