McCartney is definitely singing to Linda's 1st husband (Joseph Melville See) in this song. And yes, he ultimately committed suicide. It has been speculated that the "Get back, Jo!" in the Beatles song GET BACK refers to him as well. In that song, "Jo" comes from Tuscon, Arizona (the same place Joe See lived). |

Absolutley gorgeous set of lyrics. I can't claim to know what Bob is trying saying in every verse, but it's got to be about a very strong and independent woman whom he greatly admires. If it's not, the song loses its power. |

This is John in India. Though he's still with his first wife, he's recently fallen in love with Yoko and missing her something awful. He's frustrated and wants to be near her. This song is a manifestation of that. A nice piece of work. |
