well this could tie in with the self-harm/mutilation theory, but i always thought this song was about somebody who fought just because they can. i relate to it in this way.. i always just seem to need to fight with the person i love. for the stupidest reasons aswell. and i can tell it hurts them alot. and i just want to get rid of my obsession with having problems with them. |

i agree with what captain planet is saying and all but i see it on another sense. i really don't know what's wrong with me but when i listened to this song it clicked and i related to it. every relationship i've been in, i always seem to want to hurt who i fall in love with. i don't know why, but the smallest things that mean nothing to me i can get annoyed about and just want to bring it up. i think this songs just about desperate love and how what someone on the 1st page said, you kinda feel like you have to hurt your lover even though they mean the most to you, and that you can't help it. "choice is yours" gives the idea that all problems are in the past and the main person has gotten along with it and can continue to do so if they choose not to be peaceful. memoria just suggests a big past with the person. [Come doused* in mud, soaked in bleach As I want you to be ] - this jsut suggests how they were in the past, and how he will still accept them as they were and be peaceful. and finally [ And I swear that I don't have a gun ] etc. - suggesting that through all this they are not trying to make an attack, just genuinely it is all intended to be peaceful. and yeah there's what i think it means. |

this songs pretty straight to the point. A guy is in love with a girl and she has a lover already. he's jealous and etc.. i'll just give my opinion of the more cryptic lines. "A thousand clever lines unread on clever napkins" - [ basically saying how even if he exposed all his thoughts they would be dismissed by the girl. such as if he wrote all his feelings on a napkin she would simple wipe her mouth with it and not take notice of the words and disragerd the napkin in all, aka his feelings ] "I stay wrecked and jealous for this, for this simple reason I just need to keep you in mind as something larger than life" - [ this to me means that even though hes so hurt of jealousy and he feels wrecked, he has to believe that she is worth it, by putting her in the place of something amazing, somethign worth fighting for. ] and that's it. ps. for the 39 frigging pages of comments. there are barely any which dignify any meaning to the song. please if you're gna say how much you love the song or hate it, do it on some other site. as this is.. songmeanings.net.. keyword: MEANINGS. |

i always thought this song was about becoming addicted to a lie that you have said. particularily, for example, lying about a past or present spouse, just to make yourself seem interesting or for any reason which people do do it. i think it's just about being so prone to this lie that it becomes a part of you and it also being beautiful (i.e making the person feel good, etc.) and then it touches on the idea that life is just a game and that you may as well do whatever to make it feel worthwhile. that's my interpretation :) |
