| I find regina's style in musical lyrics all about fantasy story telling, maybe not of any truth or relevance. In interviews she has said herself sometimes the words just poor out of her and mean little sense. I think this is one of her most fanciful songs in very hidden relevance. I think its all about words that meant someting at the time but mean very little in a practical sense. I love the way she does that, tells a story with no beggining or ending just a whole lot of something in between, Means so very little but all the interpertations of it can mean something too someone. One of my favourite Regina Spektor songs. | |

| i think this song is all about family trying to protect someone (kate nash) from the outer world... Holding her in this seeminly perfect little family world. She's innocent to love.. i think this song is about her first love. And the flowers simbolise how she is changing from girl to woman. I think the "knock knock scratch" is kate trying to "claw" her way out of the confines of her world she is living in. She is probably happy in her family but she suddenly sees a whole knew world and this boy (little red) coimes and suddenly makes her see everything in a different light. I think she is also comparing herself to little red riding hood who strayed off the beaten path. i think she folled her new path.. and sees that it might end up badly.. but really she knows she has to do it.. she cant go back to the world she has left behind.. | |

To me this song is all about comprimising yourself in a relationship but getting nothing in return. Its about realising love is not enough and you can pretend to yourself all you like but at the end of the day sometimes love just isn't enough. i think Josh is talking about a girl whom he sees has the whole world at her feet and she's using it to gain advantage though she might not deserev it. He does love her, he doesnt know what to do and how to end it because despite her faults, he still loves her. "Now my apartment lies awake at night It tosses every time she sighs Tries to take it easy on her eyes But I can feel it giving up the fight" |

I think this song is about how he loves this woman so much but she doesn't feel the magic as she once did. Like it says in the last Stanza "Will i starve in this eclispe while you treat every hungry kiss like one more mouth to feed" I interterpt this as how she doesn't want to hurt him and her kisses have become a nessasary part of hiding how she really feels but he can still see through her image. She has become so dependant on herself and lost all ties to him, maybe without realising it, and he doesn't want to lose her. "Honey how are you gonna make it on your own?" i think this is hios way of saying that if she ever finds that she needs him he will be there for her. He also thinks she has become selfish without meaning to but can see that she still cares, she has just forgotten how too. |
