Better yet, he's not even saying "rat's favorite son" (probably make sense). I'm listening to the song right now and he's saying "last favorite son". It sounds like rat if you're not paying attention to Palumbo's accent, but he's definitely saying last. |

I'm not saying I'm right, but I've listened to this song over and over...and I swear the lady is saying "fearless on my breath" and NOT "feathers on my breath". When you think about it, "feathers" doesn't make that much sense, as opposed to "fearless", 'cause when you're fearless, well...you're not afraid! So everything being said, thought, whatever is said without any doubts, so it's fearless!
Great song, though! I see it more having to do with a one night stand ("night, night of matter", which made me think of mind over matter, brain over brawn, or common sense over hot monkey lovin'!) that wound up with a pregnancy ("gentle impulsion, shakes makes me lighter"), that seemed alright but soon grew into a guilt of sorts ("black flowers blossom"). What that guilt is towards, we may never know... |

I swear Palumbo's accent throws off the chorus, because it doesn't sound as if he's saying son...but I don't know. |
