this isn't a correction, but whenever these lyrics say "don't forget to remember" i hear in the song "gotta swear you'll forget to remember me" except for at the very end of the song. I kinda like that better, even though it doesn't make as much sense to me in a way it does. |

all u people talk aout how it's about vikings. That's PAINFULLY obvious. Why doesn't anyone acknowledge that the Ah-hah is nearly orgasmic and the song is mesmerizing? It only makes them better they take such already respectable history and make it into an amazing song. Really being an immigrant (i'm not one, just saying) is someones from a foreign place come to live somewhere new. I relate to that right now, coming from the cold and briny north heading for the western shore, where it's warm. Really coming from anywhere uninhabital and going someplace more welcoming is what i think it's about. |

well if it's about their mom then it means their mom is watching when they get in troube (hence the dark tone to the song) and she's a charmer. Or the way I think of it is this lady in their town is always looking at him (like the I'm chekin u out lookin') and he can't resist because she's a charmer. but she's devious (stole his karma) and he knows he'll get in trouble, especially because she's married to the preacher, and he can't screw around with her and hope god will forgive him. i'm not bible expert, so that might be a little wrong. So basically it's about chaotic lust and confusion. |

Ok I am a girl and frankly from my point of view it goes like this: First he dates her and expects sex, but she wants to get married first, but the moment she leaves the church with him she becomes a sinner, letting him wander in her garden and getting stoned. Of course, he keeps her for the sex whenever he wants, hence heading the master's call, but gradually becomes "evil", hence Satan and man. Then her girlfriends, her former "world" gossip about her and he tells her it's pointless becuase you can't stop gossip. So then he takes her to the movies and the show to make her feel better, and "you know" at the end I guess means she knows what he expects next. (whispers really quietly "sex") I seriously don't think it's about the occult, more about how difficult marriage can be for women and how a man will woo her just for sex. But of course the riff is hypnotic, which only adds to how men will hypnotize girls but then the actual events, the lyrics, are bittersweet. But damn I love this song...and seriously I can't care about the lyrics when Page plays like that. |

I think it's about how a long time ago a lot of relationships were forbidden. This relatioship grew from a friendship to the two people falling in love even though they aren't supposed to. The relationship is forbidden because she is a "queen" compared to him. In a gay sense, it means an important secretly gay man is in love w/ a man who everyone knows he is close to, but not necesarily gay with. The consort wants him to come out, and trust that he will always support him and make him happy, hense "dissolve your mind", like he'll make it so the important things seem unimportant when they are finally together.
