"zenfull tangerine" - i think you are wrong about this song, and about the whole american gothic EP. The Rose March is the best song on the EP. I don't really think SP care about making popular songs - they just care about making good songs that they enjoy making and songs their fans appreciate. To me, The Rose March is about finding love - true, idealistic 100% love. The lyrics "Slowpoked, And cross-eyed, Pigeon-toed to the railroad ties, Humpbacked, And sugar shacked, Shotgun wed to The poison of our past" refers to having been too slow in realising what was actually wanted, been attracted to the wrong things, and having had things happen way too quickly that has left one damaged emotionally as a result. "We've a little longer, a little longer to go" refers to knowing inside that once you are happy within yourself, you'll meet your true love.. and these lyrics refer to not being completely healed yet, but knowing its going to happen soon. "inner spaced, and pie-faced, you catch the moon and i'll just stand here and run in place" refers to knowing that one is evasive of getting close to someone, pie-faced refers to being fucked up on drugs - perhaps this is referring to being fucked up in spirit - and the lyrics "you catch the moon and i'll just stand here and run in place" is talking about letting someone chase their dreams while he waits patiently for them to fix themselves. "Shellshocked, and half cocked, the universe is full of black holes and anniversary notes" refers to knowing how this person got where they are and empathises with how they feel. The last part "i'll lay roses at your feet til you decide that there is something great in you" simply means he'll be there and do everything he can to make them realise how good they are. |
