oh and btw, the video was interesting.. he's in Mexico for the "day of the dead" and death is starring him into his face, which is suddenly striking him, and his realization that he could die if he kept going on like this was scaring him (which is also why he rubs his eyes, it's a surreal thing for him to see). for the whole video we thought he was seeing the ghost of the girl, yet, at the end of the video, we realize that the little girl was the one seeing the ghost of him, which forshadows his death's enevitability is he keeps going on with his substance abuse. |

I think the majority of this song is about substance abuse. [Like I never wanted anything]=the abused substance. [I suppose I'll let this go and find a reason I'll hold on to]= finding a reason not to quit. [I'm so ashamed of defeat]=deafeat being the substance winning over the battle he has with himself. [And I'm out of reason to believe in me. I'm out of trying to get by.]=probably because he is sick of fighting to get sober, and he's giving up. [I'm so afraid of the gift you give me]=he's talking about how alcohol gives him the gift of euphoria, and it scares him. [I don't belong here and I'm not well]= he's addicted and mentally and physically not well. [I can't face myself when I wake up And look inside a mirror I'm so ashamed of that thing]=what he's turned into because of the alcohol. Amy lee comes in at--- [Hold me now I need to feel complete]= he wants to feel complete without alcohol, and replace alcohol's completion with amy's love. [like I matter to the one I need]= like his life is worth something, and it means something to someone, which would give him strength to fight. ---that's just how I feel about the song though |
