This song is so beautiful, and so heartbreaking. It may be "just" the story of his rendezvous with Janis Joplin, but on a deeper level it's two people who feel oppressed by the pressure to be "pretty"- in more than one way. She found her escape in the drugs that eventually led to her death. |

I'd say this song is about the singer's frustration with society- with how people are content to stay in the background and live mediocre lives while the world goes to hell, as long as it doesn't affect their lifestyle too much. There is no one willing to step up and lead- they're indirectly destroying society by not caring enough to fix it, and in the end it will destroy them as well. He's fed up with it- he either wants someone to set things right, or destroy everything and put an end to it... that's where the breakdown fits. If you don't care enough to pull the world out of its shithole... well then, "BRING THE MOTHER FUCKIN' RUCKUS!!!" |

It's the man in the moon! I spent forever trying to figure it out and then it hit me in the face... can't believe I didn't see it before.
It rotates in the sky (on a sky hook) outside of his apartment. |
