I went to see the band a couple of months ago and when at the lines 'the torch that I hold is always a flame' he held an imaginary torch and then blew it out at the end of the song. Selfishisgorgeous is right, Emily Kane actually came to one of their gigs and Eddie got really embarassed when he met her back stage afterwards because he said he wouldn't have played it if he had known she was there. He said that after about ten minutes he had to admit to the rest of the band members that he wasn't really in love with her, he was just in love with the idea of being in love at 15. They teased him about it for months. |

I know this song is supposed to be hopeful because we don't all know 'the beauty we are' and if we did we'd be termed arrogant but its still so sad. There is no resolution to the song, at the end Nico is still saying 'please put down your hands' and it just feels like the person she is trying to reassure will never see themselves as others see them. I played this song a lot when one of my friends killed themselves-I spent my entire life trying to explain to her how amazing she was and she never saw it. Although it is pretty, it is also hopeless |

This song reminds me of me and my friends getting disgustingly drunk in the forest when we were about sixteen and on a massive self destruction kick. One of my friends would invariably try to drunk call his ex girlfriend and we always tried to stop him. Unfortunatly her name wasn't Laura but oh well. |
