| I think the main focus is on the Mind and Body. Although, it does have different meanings to each person, the main focus of the album is the process of consciousness. | |

This song IMO is in the male perspective. He is expressing his fustrations with her expectations. He expresses this by comparing them with 'imaginary life'. He then ends up questioning her, hopefully knocking some realistic perspective into her, that is that really what you want? Will you ever be satisfied at all? etc...etc... Wonderful song! |

Tool teaches us to look at the details, not to scratch the surface and be satisfied. It seem to me (without cruel intention) many try to make an interpretation based on a glimpse or quote from Maynard or anyone in the band. The fact of the matter is, that's not enough. You can't tell a story with one sentence. You need to pay close attention, and put the puzzle together. Words portray a meaning which can be expressed, and sound portrays that which words cannot. You need both to put together the puzzle. So sit back, clear your mind, listen to the song, and just feel... |

Such a soothing song. Going along with Truth's statement. Your conception is very similar to what maynard has said about the band. It went something like : "they see those out of control kids, smelly and carless, wearing Tool shirts, then people being to accumulate the wrong ideas. Then more and more you being to see the same people at the show." They are a mirror for how society works, and for those willing to dive through the garbage, you will find what you have been searching for. Be patient. |

| The Shins – Caring Is Creepy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"hold your glass up, hold it in never betray the way you've always known it is. one day i'll be wondering how i got so old just wondering how i never got cold wearing nothing in the snow." At this point in the song, and ironically pondering over this very part, it seems that the person has finally pushed himself to realize that carrying about whatever it is they're thinking, is pointless. After, meaning he will one day he will be wondering again, of why he once wondered so much that he sort of drifts off. That kind of drift off where you forget what is going on right in front of you. If you concentrate really hard, or just thinking too much, you will tend to notice,at times, you forgot you are living, and or lose the sense of sense. In the end, not all things are pointless, and not all things are random. The stream of life is what it is, and sometimes it's worth stepping aside and wondering. Inevitably we all care and wonder, and one is a byproduct of the other, and vise versa. To realize this, is to know it as you've always known it. You are who you are, and the way you are is what you are, so just be what you are, or else you will forget who you are, and will die wondering why it is you never cared, because caring is a strange feeling after being numb for quite a while. |

From my own experiences, people need to evolve one step higher than themselves to truly appreciate tools music. It's just so beautiful... |

| Tool – Schism Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| After reading a few peoples opinions of this and other songs, including my own interpretation and feelings for the song; I have come to the conclusion that this is about the self. The evolution of ones own being. The 2 people who can't communicate are the one side you are trying to leave, to the one side you want to become. The struggle is there, it's acknowledged and in the end, the uniform of compromise is settled. Moving forward and pushing away that "junk" you don't like. It goes along with the theme of the Album. | |
| A Perfect Circle – Pet Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The theory of the son being protected makes sense, but so do a lot of other theories. It's archetypal, but the logical theme of the song seems to be about politics: What do you think of when you hear "BOOGYMEN" "WAR DRUMS", "NWO" ... terrorism. This song to me seems to be pointing out the fact that we are being manipulated, lied, and abused by simply being misinformed. "Hey come here, I'll keep you safe, as you watch the bodies pile up higher".. but what's the reason. There is no reason why were are still there, and it's a clear point in the song that we are still living through all of this while not knowing why, and feeling comfortable from the ruthless lies given to us as the only option: shown by saying "Safe and ignorant ". |
