Metallica – I Disappear Lyrics 17 years ago
For a long time, I thought the lyrics to part of the song was "I'm in pain and I hope I suffer".
When you say "I am" you are talking about a noun. Suffer is NOT a noun, it is a verb.
Anyway, yeah this was Jason Newsted's final song. Why though, would Jason perform in it if it was about him? While he didn't write too many songs, he would have been told why the guys were writing each one wouldn't he? Or at least have some idea.

Metallica – One Lyrics 17 years ago
I have a DVD where all of Metallica's songs they've released are pn one DVD. Lars Ulrich was talking about the song. He says that the song was mainly James's idea, pretty much about what it could be like to be some sort of basket case. They later found a book and then a movie of "Johnny Got His Gun". When listening to this song and watching the film clip, it makes me think to myself that is NOT what I ever want to turn out to be, just about more than anything else in life. It's worser than death, I'd rather be buried alive than be someone who is alive but with no arms, legs, hearing etc.

Metallica – Hero of the Day Lyrics 17 years ago
I've heard this sing is about people who are looking for heroes in the media, when the people you should admire are those who you come across in everyday life. When listening to this song I initially thought it was about person(s) who are simply ordinary human beings doing extraordinary things, hence the title of the song.

Londonbeat – I've Been Thinking About You Lyrics 17 years ago
Gosh, I'm only the FOURTH person to comment about this song? One of the great one hit wonders, but the band is seemingly so unknown today that this song has been forgotten about. My aunty was around the age I am right now when this song 1st came out (and I've heard despite the very few comments here that it was a massive success) and it was the song that her and my uncle played as a couple, 2 people who were in love with each other and, basically, this song and the lyrics explain it all.

Linkin Park – Given Up Lyrics 17 years ago
Once again, this is the REAL Linkin Park, especially with Chester's scream, wow. I can totally connect to it, to me it's about wanting to leave my life behind and start again, somehow, someway, because I've fought long and hard to change it and still keep the life I have going but it's been in vain.

Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics 17 years ago
Definitely my favourite Green Day song from the American Idiot album, and my favourite Green Day song fullstop. To me it's being without any friends and without anyone who loves you, just lonely, broken hearted and in a world full of shattered dreams, and living a life that's not actually worth living.

Linkin Park – Bleed It Out Lyrics 17 years ago
Now this is more like Linkin Park, sure they may be getting more commercial but this is why I have grown to love them. Their more commercial music is still alright but hopefully they are not being pressured by the record companies. From a personal point of view and in particular from reading the actual lyrics of the song, I have thought about taking my own life and, though I am still here today, if I did it would be like the people I know having to face up to the fact that I'm dead and it's only because of the fact that I was pushed over the edge.

AC/DC – Rock 'n' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution Lyrics 17 years ago
To me it's saying that rock and roll is here to stay, and that they are here to stay too and they will never change. And they never changed, playing just rock and roll music, even if the music genre changed a bit.

Linkin Park – In The End Lyrics 17 years ago
The meaning of the song is based on one's failure, or ending of a realtionship. Fantastic song, some of the lines remind me of how I put up with so much shit with other people to try and keep a friendship going. The chorus in particular with Chester singing it really connects with me.

Linkin Park – One Step Closer Lyrics 17 years ago
This song makes me think of old friends I used to have. I'll say that again, USED TO HAVE, or in other words, they are not my friends anymore.
But the lines of this song makes me think of people who are bad people and won't build a bridge and get a life, they keep living in the past, a past that was very dark for me and I cannot take it anymore, hence the 1st line of the song. And when I try all I can to speak to them and have done all I can to be nice to them, they won't listen, hence the scream of "shut up when I'm talking to you". And finally, that one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break. What I'm saying is that I can relate to this song.

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 17 years ago
The beauty about some songs is that you don't know the meaning of it, at least from the writer's perspective. Freddie has famously never revealed why he wrote it and what it means to him. Therefore you have your own perception of a song's meaning, which is what Freddie wants people to do. Although you often have your own personal meanings of songs even if you do know why the writer wrote it.

Green Day – Longview Lyrics 17 years ago
This was Green Day's 1st ever song released to the world, and what a fuckin brilliant song it is. When you listen to it you just think to yourself how boring life can be sometimes, and you just want to get pissed or stoned, and/or just go into your own dream world in a world full of fun and partying!

Green Day – Minority Lyrics 17 years ago
"Down with the moral majority",
the Moral Majority was actually a political group in the US that was in existence from 1978-1989. I don't know much about it, but it was a religious group, maybe even a cult. What Billie Joe has against it I'm not sure.
Anyway, the song itself is great, must be about being yourself and not worrying about what people think of you or who they want you to be, just be yourself.

AC/DC – Highway To Hell Lyrics 17 years ago
While this song, like many people have suggested, is probably about the struggles of being a rock and roll star, it could also be about a struggle of life itself.
I can connect to it, about the latter bit, a struggle of life and it appears that there's no way out of a downward spiral. One of AC/DC's greatest songs and 1 of the greatest songs ever in the rock genre and music itself.

Jet – Look What You've Done Lyrics 17 years ago
Unlike the songs that Jet have released, where they are much more bouncy, happier and you could even say more old time rock and roll, this is much more sadder. Nice song, the verse in particular is very catchy.

Oh, look what you've done
You've made a fool of everyone
Oh well, it seems likes such fun
Until you lose what you had won

This could mean that someone has done something very bad and done something very hurtful. That you might have thought it was funny or you just didn't give a fuck about it, well I'm shattered and I don't want to be around you anymore. Is everything funny now? I'm shattered and disappointed at what you've done and you've made a fool of me.
This song all in all is probably about being cheated on and dumped on.

U2 – One Lyrics 17 years ago
The song sounds better when Mary J. Blige is singing with them. Personally I'm not a great fan of U2, but this song is their best song in my opinion.

Evanescence – My Immortal Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, I said bring me to life was my favourite Evanescence song. I've changed my mind again, THIS IS.
Both the original and the piano version are brilliant to listen to. A very sad and depressing song, but one definitely to listen to when you feel hurt.
Like a Romeo and Juliet story, this sounds like a relationship that Amy may have had with someone that ended in tragedy and perhaps was always going to.

Evanescence – Bring Me To Life Lyrics 17 years ago
The 1st song I ever heard by Evanescence and probably my favourite, though mind you all their songs kick arse.
When this song 1st came out life for me personally was alot better than what it would be a year later. I can't say I've ever known what it means, from a personal point of view it could be about finding someone that you love and someone who can get your life back together after a difficult time.

Metallica – St. Anger Lyrics 17 years ago
Alot of people hate this song then? I don't. I love it and here is why.
I once was beaten up badly by someone, someone who was my friend at the time, and nothing has happened to him back. One thing I know is that he loves metal music, like myself, though I'm not sure if he loves Metallica or this song.
But anyway, the point is this is a way in my own mind of saying fuck you and I fuckin hate you you fuckin arsehole.
And the lyrics, "I'm really in anger with you", we often hear people say I'm in love with you, but this is just about the opposite feeling, hatred and anger mixed in one.
All in all, this song sounds like it's about letting out your anger on someone or something, no matter who you hurt, after keeping it in for so long.

Slipknot – Wait And Bleed Lyrics 18 years ago
Alot of different responses to the meaning of the song. That's the beauty about certain songs, the meaning is a mystery and it's just left to the fans to figure out their own meanings.
Sadly it seems songs and bands like Slipknot are a dying breed as the fuckin stupid greedy music industries push bands to become more commercial rather than just letting them be themselves and write music on their own feelings, emotions and experiences.
I don't know what the hell it means, but from a personal point of view it's about being in pain without necessarily being hurt physically, just more mentally and wanting to die.

Metallica – I Disappear Lyrics 18 years ago
This song was on the mission impossible 2 soundtrack, and probably the 1st ever song I heard by Metallica.
"I Disappear" From a personal point of view from listening to the song and reading the lyrics, doesn't necessarily have to be about death or dying, but about running away from your problems, from a personal point of view disappearing from those who you thought you were close to, even running away and disappearing off the face of the earth forever without a trace, though not necessarily choosing death as a pathway.

Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics 18 years ago
Gee, people think this is a sad song. As I've said many times when writing reviews on certain songs, I've most certainly thought of suicide myself (as I am anonymous I'm not that embarrassed about it). To me this has a happy ending.
Look at the lyrics

I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

To me this is saying that Adam wants to commit suicide and either noone else knows this, or that he's warned people and they either haven't listened or don't want him to die and that he feels he will be facing death by himself. And this also says he's tried to actually make an attempt but failed, but there will be another opportunity.

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over, We'd survived
I couldnt wait til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

This says that he's failed and now all he's thinking about is going home and staying in his room, isolated from what he thinks is a cruel world forever and thinking about what life was like along time ago, how he had the world at his feet until something or some people changed it.

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to my friends
You'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

This says to me that he'll be dead soon and that everyone else will just get on with their lives, including the people who he thinks has destroyed it, and he'll be forgotten in a matter of time. But ultimately, noone will ever be allowed to visit his home again, because his friends, or enemies, have no reason to go there. But he's also saying that it is not his mum's fault or family's fault, that they shouldn't feel bad that they didn't do enough, or if they tried that it was always going to be in vain.

I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow just holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I cant wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I survived
I can't wait 'til I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

This is either saying that he tried and was unsuccessful, or that something in his life has changed his perception. And now he can suddenly look at life again in happiness. And also he can now live life again and love it for what it is.

There have been alot of responses to this song, and this is just my opinion of it or my meaning. We can all have our own meaning of songs, even if it's different to the majority, as my view of this song seems to be.

KoЯn – Falling Away From Me Lyrics 18 years ago
This song sounds like it's a song about thinking about committing suicide, how life is fucked and how it's not worth living, because things are keeping you so down that you think suicide is the easy way and best way out.
I loved this song even before I had thoughts about suicide many times myself, so I love this song even more. It's hard to say out of this or make me bad is better. Because this song connects to me, this pips make me bad.

Queen – I Want It All Lyrics 18 years ago
The song was written by Brian May. It's often used in political campaigns and protests, probably most memorably the anti-apartheid protests in South Africa and Nelson Mandela achieving freedom and himself becoming the 1st ever black South African president. May says he wrote it on the basis of having ambitions in life and trying to achieve your goals. Awesome song.

Queen – I Want To Break Free Lyrics 18 years ago
When I was writing my review of the song Bohemian Rhapsody, 1 of the things I said it was about was the fact that homosexuality was usually hidden back in those days. With the clip and the title, it sounds like he wants to reveal his sexuality, but is afraid to do so, in case his family hates him or it could affect his musical career.
And with the lyrics, it sounds like he's fallen in love with someone and wants to reveal it, but can't.

Foo Fighters – Darling Nikki (Prince cover) Lyrics 18 years ago
While this song seems to be surely about having sex with a beautiful woman, a little while back I asked a girl called Nikki out on a date (for the record I was unfortunately knocked back, she was going out with someone else!) but I still think she's a really nice lady and find her extremely attractive. In fact, she looks quite a bit like Kelly Clarkson, and I only thought of Kelly being attractive when I saw similarities in her looks and the Nikki I know! I can only look back and think "if only", becuase the title certainly makes me think of that girl called Nikki, a.k.a Kelly Clarkson or Darlin Nikki! Yes, if only, then maybe there would be more of a connection with this song and you know who!

Metallica – Nothing Else Matters Lyrics 18 years ago
When bands make a song that sounds so different to their usual style, you've either got to love it or hate it. But whatever you think of it, you've got to give them credit for expanding their horizons, as Metallica have done here.
Not that it's too different, but it's definitely a change from their usual violent lyrics and heavier, louder music. And in my view it's an awesome song. Very good lyrics about a love song.

So close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters

This sounds like he loves someone dearly and while he doesn't have this person (presumably female), in his grasp yet, he knows that these 2 are very close and he's preparing to tell her something and show a side which he's never shown before, or tell something he's never said to anyone before.

never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters

He's said his say and that it comes from the heart, they are no lies. The life is ours part could mean we together could be one.

trust I seek and I find in you
every day for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters

What he has said here suggests what he has done has worked, together they are one and that this is a new beginning, a whole new perspective on life, and that with this person, there can be heaps of new things that can happen and that it looks like it's going to be a ride of a lifetime.

never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know

This could mean that people were talking about these 2, joke or not, and now he's gotten what he wants, he doesn't care what they have said or are saying and what they know or knew, but, ultimately, he knows exactly what is going on.

never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know
YE-YEAH!!!

Again, he does not care about what jokes, games or rumours that have been going around, and now that he's gotten what he wants, all that he's said is an outpour of emotion, an outpour of emotion he's either never shown, or has never felt.

All in all, to me this is a very happy song and a very pleasant song to listen to.

Metallica – Enter Sandman Lyrics 18 years ago
Hi InEndlessChains, I don't notice it being overplayed that much, but 1 thing is certain, this song is being commented on heaps. It doesn't worry me that it's overplayed, considering that we hear so much pop shit these days. Put the pedal to the metal I say.
They can play this song over and over again as far as I'm concerned, this song is sick.
And what it's about? Seems to be about someone, it could even be an adult, having recurring nightmares and sleepless nights. It could, as some people are saying, be to do with being high on drugs. It could mean that they're having hallucinations and thinking they're going to die, or that they're having trouble sleeping because they're high as a cunt and waking up even not knowing where they are, and that they're scared.

I've never known what this song could mean. Whatever way, it sounds like the singer, Chris Cornell, was going through a depressing time when this was written. Good song though. If I had to write

KoЯn – Got The Life Lyrics 18 years ago
As mod said, Jonathan explains the meaning of the song
That's a song baggin' on myself. How everything's always handed to me. How I look up to God and don't want this anymore. Like I want something more out of life than all this. And I've got everything I really need but I sometimes don't like. I don't know how to explain it. I have to let it sit through the songs more to actually get into what I write. I truly know, really, the meanings of the songs
almost. That's what I'm getting out of it right now.

This could mean that he should have everything he needs in life, that it seems he does have everything, but there's shit as he says in the song a few times, shit that he doesn't want. He has "Got the Life", he has one, but there are consequences in this life that he must pay, or that God has given him this shit when he just wants to get rid of it.

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 18 years ago
Homosexuality was kept a secret usually in those days. Freddie was not openly gay and probably hid it, like a lot of gay people back then. It could be to do with the fact that the people who loved him (such as his family in particular) would not or did not accept it, or that they suspected he was gay and questioned it. And it could be political too, homosexuality was and still is in some countries a crime, in some countries you can even be executed for it.

I've been a nice guy who has finished last. So if you don't stick up for yourself, if you just let the shit come at you, or even run away from it (that was my option), you'll finish last. I cannot see why the fuck that anti-Jewish comment was allowed to be printed, this is a bloody website about what songs mean, whether it means something to you or what it meant by the artists, not a white supremicist fan club site. By the way I love Slipknot but hate racists, I am of mixed race (though not Jew) and find that comment very offensive.
Before I start writing about this song, for the record for who's asking, Brian Johnson is 60, not 70. That voice and the cap are trademarks and very unique, I actually didn't know there was a singer before Brian until not that long ago!
This song is a really fuckin kick arse song, the great thing about it is it's a rock and roll song mixed with a love song, probably about making love to a beautiful woman. I have a question, was this Brian's 1st song for AC/DC? If it was, well what a bloody entry it was into AC/DC! Great lyrics, my favourite AC/DC song and there are some bloody good ones too!

I didn't know at 1st when I listened to this song and watched the film clip that it was from a movie, which I haven't seen yet, but the fact that Metallica purchased parts of it which were very powerful and mixed it with the other parts of the clip made it so powerful. Brilliant song and a brilliant clip. Creepy and scary too, I must say, if I was like the poor guy who was in that state, I'd want to die too. I wonder whether James knew someone who severely injured themselves in war once and was forced to live on life support for years if not decades, when he was in pain or in a state where he had severe brain damage and considered himself useless, and the best option for him was to die, which he eventually achieved.

Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm suprised this song hasn't gotten more responses, but it could be that it's so different to the usual green day style. Because the "good riddance" bit is added, this must mean a parting swipe at someone or some people. It's been said that it's a parting swipe to the old fans who turned their back on the band once they hit the big time, also a swipe at a girl who left Billie Joe and he was perhaps heartbroken by it. This song was the 1st song that I ever heard from green day, I didn't hear another song by them until american idiot. It took me ages to figure out that this is so different to their usual style, which is punk, either pop or rock (even though the band has said this is as punk as you can get). One of my favourite songs ever, this is the type of song that you can feel so many different emotions to and can play anywhere. This makes me feel sad, happy, angry, there's no song that makes me feel so many emotions. This is a song to celebrate to, to say goodbye to for the last time, to say I'm glad you're out of my life to some people, it's just awesome. Brilliant stuff from green day.

Foo Fighters – Long Road To Ruin Lyrics 18 years ago
although from a personal point of view it's not the greatest foo fighters song of all time, it's still alright. this seemed like a very ambitious thing to release as their 2nd song considering it was released behind 1 of their most successful tracks ever, in "the pretender" (probably their 2nd most successful song behind the immortal "best of you"). also ambitious because the song and the film clip is so different to the foo fighters usual style, but this song just shows you how much of a talent and how versatile dave grohl is with his songwriting skills. this song seems like to be about someone who cannot get what he wants and is prepared to pay any price to get it. the groovy video clip doesn't make me feel any hurt when i listen to this song, but i have felt before that i feel i love someone and they don't feel the same way about me, which has hurt me. if i listen to this song more often, i could connect to this song, which is what it could be about, a guy who feels strong love to another woman but they don't feel the same way about them.

this is RAGM's best song. very catchy, different as well, but it's the type of song that you just want to jump around to. this song must be anti-white supremacist and even a counter attack on white supremacist groups, in other words, you've spread your hate and hurt so many people of many races, well you know what, how about have some of your own medicine, how do you like people singing i hate white racists and their stupid, pointless political propaganda? and it could also be saying that people who work in not just the government jobs, but in the community "helping" out and people who seem like family people were once supporters of white supremacists or even did worser criminal acts like burning crosses, churches and builidngs, murdering other races and that some people have gotten away with it. and with the "now they do what they told you, now you're under control", could mean you were or are being manipulated and taken advantage of, or that i feel sorry for you because you were brought up this way by your father, which many race haters have.
