I love this song. I completely see how this is probably referring to domestic violence and couples fighting, possibly from the girls drug addiction (line 4), but the way jesse coos the chorus is definately meant to be sexy. Maybe they both fight, they both know its wrong, the girl gets bruises and has to lie about it, the singer knows its wrong to be doing it, but they both get turned on by it. "please stay up for the fight": Their hatred for eachother fuels their lust. .. At least thats what I get out of it. Like, I'm really turned on by the song, but I know I shouldn't be. And I think thats how the boy feels. Also I thought maybe he could be cheating with a girl while dating her sister? And the sister suspects.. but that doesn't seem as likely. |

i really think the last line to child says in the background is "i still wonder where he might be", because he's looking for someone on the shelf.. it just makes sense, but i could be wrong. as for people criticizing others' interpretations on here, be nice. no one is more right about these lyrics than anyone else, unless of course you're jesse or vinnie. |

I can completely see the global warming theory. "On this ridiculous climb With great tunnel vision We built ourselves a mission To ride our motives design Oh, what a vague description Of what we have been missing So why would anyone try? It was always worth it That's the part I seem to hide And the busy ant empire Put up the closing sign" climb of temperature, tunnel vision of ignorance of whats happening and what will happen. and why would anyone try to fix a vague description of what we don't know we've lost yet? so Florida had to be closed because it got too hot, and Isaac always secretly thought it was worth it because he didn't have good experiences in Florida. I've lived in Florida all my life, but it is getting ridiculously hot. No hard feelings, good song. |

| the fact that the lyrics are so bleak and bland are what i love about it. they have nothing to say, and they arent going to cherry coat it and pretend. | |

and i thought it was "was cut up and left..", not "we're cut up and left.." but i could be wrong. it just makes more sense. saying that his comments on "how messed up your head is" were just kind thrown away and ignored. |

| i think we're reading a little too much into this song. Jaws Theme Swimming is one of my favorite songs on Deja Entendu, but i just think its loosely about accepting that things in life may not make sense or change. sometimes we have a false hope that as we get older, everything will make so much more sense and we wont make mistakes anymore. and Jesse's saying nothing really changes and we will always feel a bit lost in our lives. theres a lot of irony in this song and it definately has a depressing, hopeless mood. | |
