| Basically what motorhead said. It's about how a country going down the crapper affects the next generation. | |

This song reminds me of The Hills Have Eyes -_- I know that's not what it's about, but the chorus reminds me of how those people lived, "loving" each other by bringing them up to be demented killers, and "keeping it in the family tree." |

It's not about terrorists literally taking over the U.S., it's about us becoming basically the same thing because our government (although they don't come out and say it) markets the War on Terror as a holy war, a "god vs. god" situation, as Dave puts it. The "legion of uneducated bankrupt souls, with a lust for revenge, answering the call" aren't Muslims fighting Christianity here, it's Christians fighting Islam there. The second half of the song is about fighting back against this basically extremist movement. "And to beat violence, You must ignore the focus groups, You must set into the mossaf, Turn off the BBC and CNN And don't look back." It basically means ignore the propaganda. turn off all those news programs (the inclusion of the BBC in this lyric is very interesting; Dave is acknowledging that the U.S. is not alone in Iraq, Britain is there too, and their Christian population is subject to the same situation ours is), and don't look back. It's a really powerful song if you take the time to interpret it as something more than "OH NOES TERRORISM!!!!" and much more complex than previous efforts. |
