Looking at it again, I think you have a point. However, when I hear it I think the opposite. "I wanna thank God...for the contradiction" to me is an actual praise, just the idea that there are so many facets of life. The "science fiction" and the "freaks" are the flavor of life. Then, I think of the "lords and ladies" section as being the people who are conforming and not thanking God for the contradiction and differences in life. We're choking on sameness. |

I was having trouble with these lyrics, but I find the same ones everywhere. Anyways, this is what it sounds like to me. I have no clue about the first part though, it doesn't make sense to me as is, but I can't come up with anything better. It seems to be a song about not really having much motivation, but living well enough. Being lazy, and what that leads to: they let this city/Get sad and empty/'Cause they're only half awake. Everybody wants a piece of some easy enterprise. Can this world cut your face and carry the news that you've got a gift to be given? Cut it out, cut your loss, we don't dream we fantasize. And this is how we measure the cost: enjoying the pain of 21 years of good living. When you look at me do you see someone with a future? | To me it takes on the opposite of the literal meaning, and it sounds like torture. The same "perfect" night over and over would cease to be perfect. Which I suppose is why it says, "It's hard to imagine that nothing at all could be so exciting, could be so much fun." But we're all trying to "get to the bar" and enjoy some version of perfect. | |

| The writer's sexuality really isn't too important, but it does give it an added meaning. But I think he intentionally leaves it open for interpretation. What I was curious about was the last thing he says in the song, "Hand in glove ...the sun shines out of our behinds" It sounds really out of place there at the end, and I'm not sure what it means. Any ideas? | |

| I agree with sukireru on the meaning, but it also reminds me of how kids spin and spin in circles. To be so silly as to spin in circles you have to feel safe, and be happy, and this song reminds me of being a kid and being carefree and just spinning. | |

"Planning big coud be a gamble I've already rolled the dice" - he's started a relationship with her and he's feeling really nervous about it but he's just go into and be himself. He's not going to lie to her, but only if he can't. He's going to mess with her head, he's going to live his life and expect her to live hers, and he's human, so yeah, he's gonna let her down. As far as the "I am all bone I am two tone red as a newborn white as a corpse".. I thought it was a physical description. He's thin- "all bone", red-headed and white skinned. But it could also have a double meaning, some have already been discussed here. "Just want you to know that I'm still a fan, get it?" I think of as meaning that he likes her- he's a "fan" of hers, and... I thought it meant that he was "high" too. He does make a lot of pot references in other songs. |

Oops! Wrong song, I don't know how to take it off. I love Hokis too. It reminds me of a friend I used to idolize in school. She lied about everything but for a long time I didn't mind because I liked to hear it like.. "fake stories humor me". Ahh, but I could only take that for so long. |
