Placebo – Blind Lyrics 17 years ago
Turbolover-

I agree. Bob Dylan sang about the same myth. Janis Ian sang about it too. Plenty of unknowns write songs about it. Placebo's lyrics are notoriously raunchy and lewd, taking incredibly blaze attitudes towards less commonly discussed subjects. I don't think it's the main point of the song- that Molko is masturbating, altho I'm sure he would like to plant that image into people's skulls- I think the focus is really on the verses.
My interpretation is that Molko [or the narrator, whichever you prefer] introduced his lover into the his escapist world of drugs, and subsequently lost his lover to the drugs. He's saying that, beyond all reason, disregarding the fact that everyone's already tried- hypothetically, if he could somehow reverse what he'd done, he would want to take their relationship back to when they were first starting out, to a good time, and remove them from the influence of the escapist realm. He'd try to make his lover stay forever any way he could, no matter how fantastical his logic or means.
The blind part figures in as a repetitive sort of re-grounding in reality: his efforts remain futile, but he realises that his lover is slipping away from him so slowly that the further and longer the lover is, the more difficult it will be to get over them.

I'm probably way off the mark, but that's what I especially love about Placebo songs- they can be so widely interpreted by any old Joe who comes along and feels like it. Sometimes they sound dumb [like I probably do] and sometimes they're insightful, but it's always nice to be able to take your own spin on things. When the same song can appeal to several different people for completely different reasons, you know it's good- you know it's great when the meaning can change several different times for the same person.

I propose a similar interpretation to ones already posted, but not quite the same so I feel that it deserves posting too.

My first impressions upon hearing the song weren't of a mysoginist having a relationship with a woman (although I agree, the speaker could possibly be a woman-hater) but simply having a fling with one. I thought that his excuses ("I didn't mean it") were directed towards a different lover, most likely a man when you take into account the way he talks about this girl, because he has cheated on the lover with the girl. I think that the other lover was probably someone he was involved in a long-term relationship with, but he wasn't getting everything he wanted out of it- namely, sex ("I just wanted to get laid"). Probably, this girl really was a faghag, and he just happened to be one of the fags that she hung around, pestering, and eventually he got high and gave in slept with her just for kicks because he was aching or something (possibly he /had/ to get high in order to sleep with her): and then in sets the guilt. Because he really does care for the lover he has a relationship with, it just wasn't going as fast as he wanted. But now he feels like he's ruined it, maybe it's ended ("Your memory will fade""I know you feel betrayed""You hate me now I'm sure"), yaddadaddadadda. And then the third verse is possibly him getting a little pissy about what he deems the lover's overreaction to his simple want for action ("You come across impure... You're goddamn immature""You act so insecure"). And the chorus part would be more of his excuses- redeeming himself by smearing and belittling the girl he slept with- she was cute but that's all she's got going for her, 'cause it wasn't any good, anyways ("Looks real cute, her lips are sore... such a motherfucking bore").

That's just my take on it. I find it hard to believe that the "her" is actually a "him", though, I think that's stretching it a bit. That would be stretching a lot of the meanings of everyday phrases used in the song, I think, and twisting gender roles quite a bit. I think people are too confined to their gender roles at the moment for that kind of interpretation to work.
