A great song, I like how it uses metaphors to show loading the gun, and getting ready to pull the trigger. I agree with Mad Girls theory, it is definately a sarcastic song. |

I think peoples ideas on the 'scorned lover' meaning fit. But also, I think poisoned desires idea about Obsession is also on the mark (if not more), especially with the whole 'doing you harm to do you good', alot of the lyrics display a twisted logic. Not that I'm an expert, but with obsession, I think the obsessed wants the person all to themselves, so they hurt them to alienate them from the outside world. Also, I guess the obsessed person doesn't quite understand their own feelings, and so when they have their 'pocession', the either become authoritive and violent, or submissive(almost) and offer themselves to keep the other person entertained(offering their 'love, and body etc, although it probably isn't always so blunt as that). In fact, it may be a mixture of both, like being manic depressive, although instead you're being dominant/submissive. Of course I could be talking shit :P Well, in any a case, a damn good song. I love the 'screaming' guitars, reminds me a bit of the horn of jericho . |

I agree, I think Fi-sci hit the nail on the head. But also, I think the quote "Better lose an eye than lose face" sums up the song and their point pretty well. Better 'destroy' yourself or a part of yourself to keep people thinking highly of you. It reminds me of the saying "Spite your nose to save your face" which although similar sort of has a different meaning (sort of harming yourself but not in a physical sense). Anyway, I think Fi-sci pretty much has the meaning covered. |

Well, by fifty-odd comments, I'm sure the nail has been hit on the head a dozen times by now. But I think I should add, there may be some references to war in the lyrics, since; "One death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic" - is a quote Stalin. I think he may have been the 'first' person to 'say' that, although by now its most surely been said many times. Mainly because it is true, which is a bit of shame really. I just found that out about the quote in my Twisted Metal:Black game manual; small world or whatever. |

I think maybe this song is about someone being controlled, and changed by their fears/worries. I need assertion devils in my eye won't let up any motion - Needs someone to take control and help them overcome their 'devils', who won't stop emotions controlling what that person does. I need a surgeon devils inside won't cut me any slack - Needs someone to get rid of the demon's inside, because they are destroying that person. Maybe its talking about a psychotherapist or something akin to that; then again it could be a metaphor for self-harm. |

Hmm, I'm new to all this song-analysie reading between the lines stuff, but... I think it may be about a person, who is in love with / or is smitten by someone. However they arn't treated very well, as in the other person is deceptive, cheats or is just a general asshole. I get the impression the person(singer) knows they have to/ or wants to move on. "I've heard it all before and You can't make me no more" - they've heard the same excuses before, but won't be bought by the lies this time maybe. "I must refuse your hug and Little wish for one night love" - the person must try hard not to fall for the other person/forgive them or show sympathy. "I wish for little things" - they don't ask for much (in return). "And to make you cum I had to bleed" - they always ended up getting hurt. " Sure'd like to wish you well But I pray to God you go to hell " she'd like to say she had a swell time, but to be honest your a bastard. The "Hey I'm gonna let it all hang out" from what I can tell is sort of - I'm over you, I hope your jealous, I'm back on the market. THIS is what your missing. "And all the chicks you know They just line right up to blow, blow, blow" the singer is perhaps unable to see what is so god damn alluring about these other people, i.e. What do they have she doesn't. Well I was probably far off there, but that what I reckon with regard to the songs meaning. Also, please excuse my swearing. |
