| Beirut – St. Apollonia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Apollonia is a character in The Godfather by Mario Puzo. She is the bride of Michael Chorelone, but is untimely killed by a set up gone wrong. Michael was madly in love with her and had the "thunderbolt", an Itallian expression for being madly in love upon first sight. Michael has to leave Sicily and the burrial place of his beloved wife. This song kind of reminds me of that but it could be totally wrong. | |

This probably isn't right, but when I hear of this song I think of a someone talking to their parents or talking about their parents. Like learning how to swim and telling time and such. Also in the beginning it sounds like he's saying, "I don't need you anymore." The tittle means "Last Glass (For the Road)" I don't know, but I love this song and Beirut |

i think it's about someone who loves someone else a lot, but both are too scared to get really deeply into a relationship, so they kinda leave it alone and their love goes away. like when they say "debate half empty or half full", i think it shows they can't decide if it's a good thing to fall in love or not, but while they decide, it becomes too late. I don't know, I doubt I'm right, but it's what i think of when i hear this song. |
