People are looking way too much into this. It's CLEARLY about a depressed girl named Laura. A name that Conor drops very often. Whether Lua is about her, I don't know. The similiarities are uncanny, either way. They break up...I'm not sure why. And the "I went a betrayed her (Laura's sister" I always saw as Conor taking sexual advantage of the girl...I guess that was a wrong impression. But the sleeping bag. I don't know. The last lines...the throat and all. NOT about an eating disorder that's a little known saying. My Grandma used to say it. soemtiems things can be very literal. |

| Does Justin have schizophrenia? He's mentioned so many mental disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar, panic disorder, post-tramautic stress disorder) that I really don't know. I know, however, he does have some sort of mental affliction. He takes anti-dpressants (maybe something more) but you could take anti-depressants and have any one of those disorders. the "Lagged behind...you got ahead" This seems to be saying something about a friend who (if the song is about coke) did it harder than Conor (assuming it is about him). Or advanced to harder/more dangerous drugs. I speculate that this friend died from drugs and this is sort of Conor's reflective piece Look at Happy B-day to me Feb. 15 just a thought of course dont get all pissy bout it. |

This song may or may not reference an eating disorder. Being in psychology field for many years now I have seen many young men with eating disorders who have similarites to Conor (ie obsession with weight in general, veganism, a depressive nature) I do believe, however, that this song is talking about an eating disorder that Conor was basically using at a guilt-trip to whoever this girl is. Also, I'm surprised no one mentioned the reference in "Laura Laurent." Your thoughts have always layed close to mine We were both skipping supper see? maybe not an eating disorder but SOMETHING is making him not eat and my first guess would be an eating disorder, then depression, and drugs. :) |
