I don't know about "missme's" theory that it's about being led on... the person in the song doesn't seem to blame anybody but herself... it could be that the guy has indicated that he likes her... but she is holding back from showing her own feelings. You understand this song if you've ever thought highly about someone and they pretty much pretended you didn't exist. Because you admire them, you desperately want to be part of their world- being their lover would be great, but you'll settle for friendship because they are super awesome and if you hang around them their qualities will rub off. I think anyone who's ever been in a position where lots of people looked up and depended on them would understand this song. When people see you as larger than life, they forget that you feel pain, that you hurt, both emotionally and physically... but you're not allowed to show it. |
