Thriving Ivory – Angels on the Moon (Album version) Lyrics

I'm still not sure what I make of this song. I get the interpretation of living life to the fullest, but I also hear a sort of disillusioned tone in the lyrics. Yeah, he wants to embrace life, but I think he is struggling to do so because of the event that brought about this revelation. I was really captivated by the line, "Don't wake me 'cause I'm dreaming, of angels on the moon, where everyone you know never leaves too soon." He is obviously mourning someone close to him and I picked up on the 9/11 references too. Being a New Yorker and knowing some of those "angels," I wasn't sure if I was the only one who really heard them or if I had made them up in my head. I think the song is about that conflicting feeling people get. "Should I go out and live my life, or is something else devastating going to happen where I lose someone else I love?"

I love this song. "I'd go back and change everything, but time won't let me go." He puts it so brilliantly. The song is no doubt about regret, and how we aren't able to accept our failures. Those opportunities we let slip from our grasp or the chances we never took. So many of us want to go back and live those moments we failed to acknowledge. For some of us, we'd do anything to right the wrongs that we've shoved in the back of our heads but still seem to think about from time to time. That's why I love the song so much- its something so many people can relate to.

I agree with Kyle2k4 on his interpretation of "Get out of the desert and into the sun, even if its alone." The song urges us to get the vision out of our heads where we see our lives as an overwhelming, stressful, and negative place. Its more beneficial to see the positive things in life, like the people by our side and the opportunities that are right in front of our face. We need to start appreciating life and see the beauty in it even if those around us continue to dwell on the negative aspects.

I somewhat agree with shell is beast. I think the song is definitely about having a one night stand, but I don't think the guy is "going along with the relationship." I think he is more into having a relationship than the girl is. He wants to have a relationship with this girl and show her how she should really be treated even if that means a one night stand.

After hearing the lyrics, and then reading everyones reaction to them, I pieced together my own interpretation. I think its not so much about a relationship, but a regret you have. That itch that you'll never stop scratching or that hole that you'll never quite fill. It could very well be a relationship lost, but I think it could also be an opportunity you let slip out of your grasp or a situation you let get out of hand that seems to be tormenting you. It's the thing thats haunting you to the point where you can't get to sleep, hence the name of the song. I think everyone who posted something so far is right because most of you related it to your own life, I just think it could mean more based on a part of my life which I connected to the lyrics.

This is such a great song. I agree with everyone who said its about getting to feel when you think you've lost yourself and your emotions. You can walk through life and technically be alive, but that doesn't mean you really are, especially if you can't feel. He just wants something big to happen in his life, if that means pain, so be it. He wants to gain some feeling back because that will show him that he has a purpose and he's not just another person walking through life aimlessly. I think this song helps a lot of people realize that they aren't the only ones thinking this way or wanting these things to happen to them.

I think this song shows how much family and home-life can effect someone. If that person lived with a disfunctional family or was just misunderstood in their childhood, it shadows them even after they're off living their own life. At the same time it shows that your family is always your family, so when your parents need you, you can't help but want to be there for them. Or at least thats the case in most families and I think the meaning of this song.

This is one of the few songs almost every single person in the world can relate to at one point in their life. Everybody has those days where you wake up and you wish you didn't have to move, wishing for a second that you were dead. This song sums it all up. Life gets screwed up but you have to keep moving because life isn't gonna stop for you. Its a tough concept to have to deal with but I feel like just listening to the song helps a little bit.

The Rocket Summer – Around the Clock Lyrics

This song is amazing and one of my favorites from The Rocket Summer. I think its about losing someone close to you. It could be the death of that person, or the fact that you realize things are changing and you desperately want to stop that from happening. I love the lyric "No, this won't be a sad song..." I feel like bryce can hear his other lyrics taking on a somewhat depressing tone, and wants the listener to realize, "No, its not like that, this is not sad, I'm gonna turn things around." I don't know, thats how I took it.

I think everyone can relate to this song for more reasons than one. It could be ending a relationship, or for me especially, ending a friendship, whether you've just drifted away from that person or something in your life changed and you knew things weren't going to be the same. Great song no matter how you interpret it.
