Most of you guys are way of track. Especially bohemund (dude, what kinda crack are you smoking). Anyways, Still Life is about a self professed atheist living in medieval times (when everything was run by religious fuckheads). In "The Moor" He describes being tarred and feathered (or whatever the medieval equivalent is, I'm not sure if they had tar back then) "Pale touch, writhing in the embers Damp mud burning in my eyes" He is driven out of town and lives in exile for many years, but he returns to claim his one true love, Melinda. "There is no forgiveness in these eyes For any of you but one Dispel the mist for now Melinda is the reason why I've come" In this song he is wandering the town (probably disguised) And finds that Melinda has Become a nun. She lays eyes on him briefly, and immediatly recognizes him. She still loves him, but knows he is an atheist. She is thus conflicted by her two loves, God, and whatever this guy's name is. btw, An agnostic is someone who believes there is no way to prove or disprove god's existence. If you ask an Agnostic weather or not there is a god, They will say "I don't know". |

| That Low A REALLY makes the song sound evil. I get shivers every time I hear it. One of Mastodon's best songs | |

The backwards "satanic" message is obviously a joke. Akerfeldt is probably making fun of the hysteria that surrounded Led Zeppelin's "backwards satanic message". Akerfeldt probably got the idea from Tool (a band he is a self professed fan of) because they're always making tounge in cheek references to satan. |

| Cannibal Corpse – Entrails Ripped From A Virgins Cunt Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| About the whole Christian thing, all I know is that Paul is catholic (Alex revealed that on a fourm) Alex is agnostic and George is an EXTREMELY anti religious atheist | |
| Tool – Opiate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's obvious that Maynard is anti religion, but I find it hard to believe that he's an Atheist. Just because your not religious doesn't mean that you have to abandon your faith in god. In the song 10,000 days Maynard actually praised his baptist mother's devotion to God, and states that she should be rewarded in the afterlife. This doesn't mean Maynard is Christian. He's just saying that she lived a good life and deserves "wings" as he says in the song. I think this makes it pretty obvious that he believes in God, but that doesn't mean he believes in the God portrayed in Christianity. | |
| Limp Bizkit – Opiate (Tool cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Kinda makes u wonder how you can be such a shitty band with an influence like tool | |
| DragonForce – Through the Fire and Flames Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It is unlikely this song is about the American revolution (this band is from england) btw I saw a video of this band performing this song live and it SUCKED I don't know what happened but everyone was off time and Herman was even out of tune. Awesome song though. | |

| Fuck Why do I keep misspelling Theater? | |
| Disturbed – I'm Alive Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| How did Jesus and God get into all of this? The song never even mentions God. You guys need to stop attaching religious meanings to songs that are so obviously non religious. anyway, I agree, the son is saying fuck you to anybody who tries to tell you who to be. Kinda like "AS I AM" By dream theatre. | |

| Here is the story behind the song. DT was on tour with Queensrych, and their guitarist (don't remember which one) kept trying to give JP tips on playing. It got annoying and JP got pissed which is what inspired him to write this song | |
