"Well I know it wasn't you who held me down Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains And we never even know we have the key".......One of the best song lyrics EVER!!!! So many people many breakup with some one or get heartbroken and think the world is coming to an end....They are soo positive about the situation and that only WE have the power to make ourselves happy...It's not someone or something that can set us free, its ourselves!!! The eagles rock my world...just started to get into them, and they have amazing harmonies, lyrics, and songwriting ability...I wish most of the music today could stop and realize what the "old rock" has to offer us: meaning! |

| Gretchen Wilson – Politically Uncorrect Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| haha....tell me where this song talks about WAR at all...."itsfruitcakeweather" you assume too much....read the lyrics again, she makes no mention of war at all....She is meerly pointing out that she stands all of the things that aren't PC to stand for...She has pride and is telling the public where she stands, whats wrong with that? I think sapphireskies was right, very ignorant to assume things that are not there...and I will win a war of words with you, if thats what you are looking for! | |
| Pink – Nobody Knows Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I can see the religious undertones in the song, but i think it is P!nk talking to herself, like having a split personality. When I first heard the song, I thought she was telling us that she is all alone and doesn't want anyone to know that. But after reading the lyrics again and reading some of these posts...It becomes a more depressing song. "Nobody likes Nobody likes to lose their inner voice The one I used to hear before my life Made a choice But I think nobody knows No no Nobody knows No"...she is saying that she has no control over her life...She use to be a person that she knew, but somehow her life has taken over who she really is, and has given up to the darkness....She seems to give into the way her life is now and claiming there is nothing she can do about it, which is really quit depressing. The only part I can't seem to figure out is the ending when she says: "Tomorrow I'll be there my friend, I'll wake up and start all over again, When everybody else is gone, No no no"...It seems like she is telling herself that she will be there tomorrow, putting on a good face and start the day over again, but for whom, herself??!? Just doesn't fit in the song for me....Any ideas??? |

| Pink – I Got Money Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |

1. I think this song has a double meaning....She is saying that she has everything she has ever dreamed of and it is what she has always imagined it was..."so it seems" could mean that she either has a front on and that she is pretending it is alright, when its not....or she could be saying that people have told her that money won't buy happiness and she is telling all those people to shove it bc it is what she wants and she is happy....Either way..this is a great song and hits home, I think, with everyone's childhood....Everyone wants to fit in and have a sense of belonging, but we all need to be happy with ourselves and not let people get us down or make us feel like less of a person.....she finally realized that wasn't who she was and now that she has money its easier for her to be different... 2. "foundthevelvetsun7" with all do respect, you should see a counselor and surround yourself with people that care about you as a person and like you for what you are....there is no magical pill or person that is going to help you find what you are looking for...it comes with age, reflection, counseling (whether that be a friend, parent, therapist, teacher, etc...), and being ok with who you are....if you aren't ok with who you are, its a long hard road...TRUST ME! |

| Eagles – Learn To Be Still Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think this song is about more than just the girl...they use her as an example of people in general, not being satified with their lives...That we all can relate to her story and we can all relate to the questions that we ask....this is a heavenly song that reminds us to stop and realize the things that we have around us...bc although she is in paradise, where most about think of happiness and perfection, but she still has the same things going on in her head....we should "learn to be still" and listen to ourselves and answer the questions for ourselves instead of finding just another "messiah" to flock too... Reminds me of Sheryl Crow's song, Soak Up the Sun when she says: "Its not having what we want, but wanting what we have" You don't have to be in paradise to find "How do I get out of here? Where do I fit in?", but rather we need to "learn to be still" and listen to ourselves! |

| Eagles – Wasted Time Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| and I also think that when he says "wasted time" he is referring to the time they have spent apart...that she thinks it is wasted time bc she isn't with him...but he shows that there is hope of them getting back together...but the time they are spending apart is making her realize what she lost and that she can't find it again! | |

The great thing about songs is that they can mean whatever you want...And that the meaning of one song might mean something completely different to each other, or that you can read the lyrics once and have an opinion about it, but read it again later and it will take on a whole other meaning. Magicblue22, I agree with you and when they say "I remember what you told me before you went out on your own: "Sometimes to keep it together, we got to leave it alone." So you can get on with your search, baby, and I can get on with mine"...she pushed him away and he at the time probably wasn't happy with the decision, but remembered what she said and he understands why she did it... this song has a personal meaning for me, so I might be looking for something that isn't in the lyrics...but this is a beautiful song.... It reminds that even though things happen for a reason, we make choices and have to both learn from them and learn to deal with them....the girl in this song had something to prove to herself, thats why she left, but realized through her failed "loves" or bf, that she lost something that was perfect for her...but maybe just maybe they will find each other again, and if they do....it's meant to be...and if they don't, they both know what love is capable of... |
