it such a great a song, the title pretty much sums it up, and I agree with previously posted comments.
Though, I also have another theory that he is making an ironic remark on mass media effect on people "you've got it sized" - meaning that we can see everything what's happening in the world and everything that we wish for on our TV's, while we are alone in our rooms and no one can see us cry. |

there is a traditional version apparently, here's a link to it:

I remember that this song entered my mind when I was just kid, and that eerie feeling about it, but in a good way. |

... the song is ok, but the video was awful, the whole going back to hindu stuff and video technique of Underneath It All was such a bad career move, in my opinion. |

this song was featured on the soundtrack of one of my favorites child movies, now and then... it fits beautifully into the whole atmosphere of movie.
I like the melody, the words... Sophie's voice :) She's really an interesting, different artist, underrated definitely. |

After watching the video for this song, it occurred to me that the DJ could be the queen/Thatcher, disco the government and the music the constant political discussions which are mostly senseless. |

I heard this song in Vice City and also in a commercial, I think it was for Always :) The girl that danced in front of the mirror...
I think this song is about a girl who returns to her previous boyfriend and he is singing this song to her. I may be wrong ... |

I guess you can understand it as if she wanted him to be only hers, or as if she wanted to kill his ego, his male power, domination. I think the other meaning is more plausible. |

| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – A Box for Black Paul Lyrics
| 18 years ago
|
I am really interested about the meaning behind this song, since I'm not a native english speaker.
I think it's basically about a guy who died (Paul) and all the funeral ceremony around him. but it seems that he was not such a respected person because nobody wants to build the box, carry it up the hill nor throw the first stone.
in the end we find out that he wants his girl dead too.
I am confused by the part "Not I", said the widow, adjusting HIS veil... shouldn't it be HER veil ? |

| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Avalanche (Leonard Cohen cover) Lyrics
| 18 years ago

|
I think it's about a man who stepped into an avalanche - a series of bad things that happened in his life. but after all, he's not so miserable and he won't go down for the lowest. and the part "do not dress in those rags for me, I know you are not poor" is maybe a reference to phony and two-faced people. |

the lyrics are so powerful, especially the part "but I know that to possess her...".
the whole song reminds of BOB from Twin Peaks and Laura Palmer, how he went up her window, tore her diary ... bizarre |

yes, I also think it's about their train to fame, which eventually did take them ... I think much further than they ever wished for.
it's such a cool song.I would definitely love to see that animated video. |

I agree, I just love Eric's songs.
beside the mentioned theories, I have one about that part "how do you feel ... " I get it as that phase when everyone keeps asking you how do you feel, but it's actually phony and no one can understand the pain.
haha, and the part "I feel good..." sounds a bit like she's high :P or under lots of codeine. |

| No Doubt – A Little Something Refreshing Lyrics

it's definitely about one of those moments when you could eat everything, like someone said here before.
also, it could be a reference to all those fast food junk food and how people can't stop eating it (if you look carefully, you won't find asparagus or something healthy :D) and become obese in the end.
it's such a funny song, I agree they were much more natural and original in the old days - today gwen's videos are all about her hair and dresses, no point or positive energy in it. still, I could never hate her, no way. I'm optimistic about the new ND album, if it ever gets released, that is. |

| The Chesterf!elds – Ask Johnny Dee Lyrics
| 18 years ago

|
I like this song very much, it's so "light" and has an interesting story... to me, it feels as if the narrator is a bit in awe, maybe even jealous on "johnny dee" who seems to know everything, get all the girl's attention and is the "the man". In the end, it's as if the singer desperately asks johnny to share that secret with the other mere mortals. That's how I see it. |
