| Doves – Black And White Town Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To me, I know it's a lot different of an interpretation, but I like to think of it as living in a boring "black and white" town, having nothing to do but get pissed and have conversation. "It's a dangerous place man" to me means that kids have nothing else to do, but get in fights, and just hit random people going by.. "the sound of nightlife" is wanting to live in a place with a decent nightlife, and knowing you'll get it eventually, when you leave, so you can guarentee it, so you can hear it, but not actually physically be there, or, see it.. Epic video(s) too. I only interpret it like that because this is what my towns like at the moment.. two more years until i'm moving to England or over the other side of Australia.. |

| Bloc Party – The Marshals Are Dead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Had no idea what it meant before checking the lyrics up on blocparty.net, now I think it has that reference to the country and doing things the wrong way, "can't contain us" I think is saying they don't know how to get the 'non-war' and 'pro-war' people and make a compromise so they go to war with the US. I think it works for the UK and Australia (where i'm from). Class song though, downloaded 'So here we Are/Positive Tension' a few days ago with a few pther EP's.. nicely suprised. |

| Bloc Party – Little Thoughts Lyrics | 17 years ago |
For all you guys asking about whether this is on Silent Alarm or whatever, this is how Little Thoughts was released. Little Thoughts EP Silent Alarm Re-release: this was released a year or so after the original, like Bloc Party did with AWITC by putting Flux on the newer versions. Hope that solves some mysteries... |

| Bloc Party – American Kids Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| My version has no lyrics, just a one minute instramental? | |
| Cajun Dance Party – The Race Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Nice song, very nice song and I think a band to become very big.. but might be overshadowed for being 'another indie band'. The song, I dont have a clue what it's about.. |
| Klaxons – Two Receivers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Haven't got a clue about this, good song though. I like the kinda "dark" tune this has compared to the other more pop-y lyrics and tunes. Like I said, I don't knwo what it's about. |
| Bloc Party – Rhododendrons Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You can download it part of the 'Another weekend in the City (B-sides and unreleases from AWITC) by using a torrent to get all 11 unrealesed ones they recorded but didn't get to AWITC. I think it states that there is a pretty bright boy who had everything in front of him and the things "So you want to be an artist, want to be a singer Want to be remembered for what you could create So you want to be a cowboy, riding to the distance Never have to listen or answer to anyone So you want to be a boxer, surviving on your instincts Relying on your fists and the quickness of your wit Are you bigger than these buildings and the grey around you? Is your pain more worthy than everybody else?" Is when he was a younger boy, growing up and knowing he could do whatever he really wanted in his life, but has thrown it away by using drugs or being in the wrong crowd.. Awesomeeeeeee song. |

| Bloc Party – Selfish Son Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's saying to someone "I can be cruel to you my love" because he's been treated badly by someone, maybe been cheated on? Kele is pretty much saying (i think) I can be cruel to you too, I won't let you get away with it, it's just i love you too much... Well, thats all I make of it. Good song tho. |
| Bloc Party – Storm and Stress Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| When I downloaded it, it has a bad sound and all fuxxy - I thought it musta been my ipod but its like that on my compyter too. | |
| Bloc Party – Sunday Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Fantastic song.. it's awesome - In a way i'm not a fan of all these 'lovie dovie' songs, but i'm a massive bloc party fan; This song is great, the lyrics explain a lot.. "When I'm with you, I am calm, A pearl in your oyster Head on my chest a silent smile A private kind of happiness You see giant proclamations Are all very well But our love is louder than words" Great part right there.. |
| The Wombats – Metro Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| The Wombats – School Uniform Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I reckon it's just about Murph at school, looking back and stuff - But the thing about "you had a walkman, All I had was a middle-part and pen" about her always being better than him. Btw, come to Australia again.. this time come to Perth also!! |

| Bloc Party – Vision of Heaven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Another great song from Another Weekend in the City (The B-sides and unreleased songs that didn't make it to AWITC). Defintly about just leaving society for a while and being left alone, being simplistic. An easy song to get. Get's you thinking about life in general huh? There's a few songs of BP like that and that's why they are my favourite band by 100000000 whatevers. They make every song special, even though this wasn't even on AWITC nor any B-sides (i'm aware of). |
| Bloc Party – Chinese Burn Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Haven't heard this song - Thank god, it looks like it'd be abolsoutely shite, terrible lyrics. They musta been young, I'll give benifit of the doubt. Was this a Union song (As they used to be called)? |
| Bloc Party – Waiting for the 7:18 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it is about getting up, doing the same thing every day - Work, 'Weary eyed and forlorne" as they are tired and can't be fucked going to work, Kele or whoever being on public transport (Or waiting obviously) seeing them do boring things and seeing them "Trying to Escape with crosswords and sodoku" as they do the games in the 'paper whilst he's thiinking 'Live life, throw your job in and enjoy life or you'll look back regretting it' hence "If I could do it again/ I'd climb more trees i'd pick and eat more wild blackberries" as in they (or kele) look back and think "Shit - I shoulda done something with life, doing a dead end job and having to work, I shoulda made the most of what time I had'. "Let's drive to Brighton on the Weekend" at the end of the song symbolising going out, and doing something such as drive to Brighton (I'm Australian, but trhough fotball (soccer) I know about english places and where they are) and I know Brighton is a place people go to the beach and relax and enjoy themselves - So Kele saying just do that in the end whilst you still have time. AWESOME SONG!!!!!!!! |

| Bloc Party – Blue Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I used to hate this song, And not 'til today actually listened to it from begining to end - Nice song, somewhat takes a while to get into the intense part. I think you guys are kinda right, the old love - Being away from someone you really like and feel you need them more than anything in a way they are your world. Perhaps someone who you've only been around a few times, but that's enough to really love it, "It'll walk you home safely every night" like something she doesn't know is there but Kele (if it is autobiographical, tho I doubt it) but he feels like he is around her even if he's away. Blue Light, I think at least, means, Blue being a bright colour and usually associated with happy things and sadder things, light's (abviously) being bright, he feels they are really bright, happy and a genuinly a nice beatiful person, That enlightens his day and lightens him up - Even if he is nowhere 'round. That's my take. |

| Stars – Take Me to the Riot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm not to sure about what it means, And I'm not getting the prostiute/drug dealng themes you guys are going on about. The only way to interprit it as that it's kinda like "take me away, i don't care what happens as long as i have a good time", Maybe because they are depressed or what, And want to do something they could regret, maybe the same theme as "Waiting for the 7.18" By Bloc Party or "You Held The World in your Arms" as Idlewild as it says about not having regrets, like I said just thinking "Fuck it, i'm going out, having fun, I might die but I don't care". This just confused me more, But nice video I spose... Minus the performance bits. ://youtube.com/watch?v=WzXhOuHEGtU |
| Bloc Party – Sunday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| 3:37 sounds a lot like "Smokers Outside the Hospital doors" by Editors too as well as the drum beat.. I love this song more though... | |
| Bloc Party – Sunday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The beginning has a very "Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors" by Editors beat to it.. almost identical. Nice song, maybe a little 'bland' for 30 seconds in there but an okay song. Obviously, about love and that massive attraction. |
| Bloc Party – I Still Remember Lyrics | 18 years ago |
If it did happen, i'd say he was like 15 or so. Fantastic song, you guys have got the meaning nailed. Beauty of a song |
| The Wombats – Kill The Director Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The Wombats said in an interview it was about seeing some movie (forget the name) that was a "rom-com" and trying to hard to be like "Bridget Jones' diary" but the band hated it. Personally though, I think it is about girls, or a relationship. 'Whenever she looks I read the nearest paper" means kinda he looks away and wants nothing to do with her, 'Don't talk to girls they'll break your heart" meaning what it says pretty much like 'girls will break your heart and dump you no matter how hard you try'. "If this is a rom-com, kill the director" is saying that it's nothing like the movies because it ends badly and is no where as funny.. get it? 'This is no bridget jones" adds to that meaning it doesn't end well and love can be completely terrible sometimes, and it doesn't have an happy ending. Beauty of a song, 5/5 wombat thumbs up :P |
| The Wombats – Let's Dance To Joy Division Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song.. according to the band has to do with nothing except they had a friend that jumped and she started singing and dancing to "Love will tear us apart again" by Joy Division in a pub or nightclub. that's it. Good song, but is hell overplayed here in australia - I prefer "Kill the Director" more tho |
| Idlewild – You Held The World In Your Arms Lyrics | 18 years ago |
... or as a few of you have said it could be about living everyday like your last, Thinking back like "I could have done everything, taken every oppurtinuty" is the metaphor for you held the world... But, that's the great thing about these kinda songs is that they could mean something special to someone and somethin' completely different to teh next person, That makes a powerful song - fantastic, the violins go well even though I hate violins! |
| Idlewild – You Held The World In Your Arms Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anroca.. sad story man. Nice song, I originally heard it on FIFA 2004, Only downloaded it recently and it is fantastic, I'm not a idlewild fan but this is an awesome song. About loss.. You Held the world in your arm's is a metaphor for saying "You had it all, but you've lost it all" kinda like "you had so much going for you - but you fucked it all up"... That's my take, maybe about suicide saying he was a young kid with the world at his feet.. he could have done anything, but could just be about somebody with a great job, good personality and a nice person but fucked it up with drugs or something.. Fantastic song ;D |
| Kaiser Chiefs – Modern Way Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Nice song, to me I think the video shows what the song is about - It has the guy starting a tennis-ball craze and does tricks with it like balancing on his head (A bit ronaldinho like) and he gets TV interviews, shows etc. and I think it is about consumer the way things can just happen and catch on.. Fads, fashions, Modern way meaning this is how it happens nowadays things get all caught up. If that makes any sense.. it's kinda hard to put into words. |
| Bloc Party – Waiting for the 7:18 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Fantastic - One of their best songs.. They better come back to australia! | |
| The Wombats – Let's Dance To Joy Division Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Im a teenager and I fucking love it, overplayed now though. The song was about the band seeing a girl at a pub or nightclub getting on a table and dancing to "love will tear us apart again" by joy divison.. Awesome! |
| Tunng – Pioneers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Not as good as your all saying, But it is okay. I prefer the Bloc Party version | |
| Bloc Party – We Were Lovers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This should have been on one of the albums - fantasic. My take on it is that they were going out and never really got to know each other, they could have had a good relationship but were to scared to really do things with each other and talk. Kinda like going out with girls (or boys..) in primary school, knowing you like each other but you just are to scared to do anything. "Now our love has been forgotten" Meaning our love has just gone down... never remembered and could have been something if they had "balls". nice song. |
| Bloc Party – Pioneers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Fantastic song, like all of Bloc Party's songs. "Promise the world we'd tame it" I think too it's about election promises just so they get the vote 'We'll not be the last" meaning they will also do it, it's the way politics are now. The video is pretty good too - Apperently it was gunna be used for Helicopter.. explains why a few of the drum beats are out of sync.. |
| Bloc Party – Positive Tension Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Yeah - defintly about the "talent" show (with Idol having nothing but talent on the show). "SO FUCKING USELESS" I think means he just feels like yelling to them they are just useless! Fantastic song, love the "they go, they say" when they have the guitair bits - awesome. Another great song from bloc party. |
| Carpark North – Human Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Your so wrong, but you still think your right" it's about people who think they are always right, "Yes it's human" just syaing kinda people get things rigth and it is normal. The thing being some people who think they are always right and never, ever wrong and maybe think they are too good and perfect maybe. Nice song - Heard it on FIFA 08 and liked it, but i noticed at about 1.00 there a two different versions.. Film clip it looks like some kids are having a fit! |
| Bloc Party – Kreuzberg Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's not about Kele's sexuality - It's really up in teh air if he is gay, bi or straight. The song, to me is about seperation maybe (Kreuzberg im pretty sure had a wall through - correct me if I am arong) and maybe Kele thinks there is a 'wall' between him maybe blocking something out. Im not 100% sure, But it's a nice song. |
