| The Tallest Man on Earth – Little River Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"There is something about the leaving of a lover, you think you knew through all the years you'd been a woman..." That line gets me every time. I think the song is about someone coming to some sort of realization in their life, realizing that everything they'd previously believed/felt to be true just isn't like they'd thought it was. |

| Imogen Heap – Sleep Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| That nostalgic, wistful feeling of awakening from a dream of bliss and beauty, in which all of your hopes and desires came true. I'm not sure if she could have picked a better instrument for this song than the violin in the beginning. | |

| Kate Nash – We Get On Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I had basically this exact situation happen to me.. well, the party part at least. I was absolutely in love with this guy, and I thought he liked me back, and I saw him at a party and he was wasted trying to kiss another girl. =[ So I can relate. Thank you Kate Nash. | |
| Fleetwood Mac – Landslide Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Gives me the chills... I think it's about the passing of time. And trying to move on from the loss of a loved one, but not knowing if you can. This has been and will always be my favorite song ever. |

| Regina Spektor – Blue Lips Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
He took a step, but then felt tired. He said, "I'll rest a little while." But when he tried to walk again, He wasn't a child. And all the people hurried fast, Real fast, And no one ever smiled. ^ I love, love, love this line. To me, it's basically saying that when life feels like it's too hard, you can't back down and wait for it to get better because you'll miss all of the opportunities to see how beautiful it really can be. |

| Regina Spektor – Consequence of Sounds Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Okay, so this is my take on the song: The "consequence of sounds" refers to everything people say, sing, etc. And it's kind of creating a broader sense of the idea of speech, like all it is is the consequence of sounds, so why do people worry so much about it? Actually, the entire song is basically like someone looking down on the world as a little spec because it talks about how unimportant our lives really are, hence the "they sorta just don't find you till your cubicle is reeking" So overall, stop stressing about unimportant things, say what you want to say, and don't think you're all that important because in the grand scheme of things, you really aren't. |

| Panic! at the Disco – When the Day Met the Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Okay, so before the CD I was never a huge PATD fan, but I really like the changes they made. Anyway, I feel like this song is about two people who fall in love but aren't really 'supposed' to (according to society, family rules, their pasts, etc.). But when it happens, they realize that they cannot live without each other and that they have to just let it happen and everything turns out good! I love this song haha =] | |
| Spring Awakening – Touch Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Something about this song... amazes me every time. The combination of voices, of chords, of instruments, gives me the chills. You can just sense the sheer desperation that these kids feel. I just love it. | |
| Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
My interpretation of this song has always been something along the lines of this: I think that Damien Rice is trying to describe a relationship where the girl finds it hard to commit,("so why'd you sing hallelujah, if it means nothing to ya?) and she is almost embarassed to be with him, hence the "we might kiss when we are alone". I think he's just trying to say that she really wasn't as into the relationship as he was and now it hurts more to find that out than it would have if they had never dated in the first place. ("Why'd you sing with me at all?") It's a heartbreaking, beautiful song. |

| Coldplay – Death and All His Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"I don't want to cycle, recycle revenge" -Here he's saying that he just wants to live life for himself, not to make others upset merely because they upset him. The whole song, I think, is just about living life and not trying to rush anything. "so come over, just be patient, don't worry." Then he goes on to say that he doesn't really want to die - "I don't want to follow death and all of his friends" He doesn't want life to end yet, he just wants to live peacefully because he's not ready. Then at the end I feel like he's come to a resolution and is saying he'll accept death as a new adventure. I don't know, that's just my outlook on the song. |

| the background music to this song is definitely the same music as in the parent trap when they do the handshake | |
| Stars – In Our Bedroom After the War Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I always hear this song and think of a new beginning. "The war is over, and we are beginning." And the end sounds so hopeful, it just reminds me of looking out onto the horizon and being ready to face what it is you're scared of. I think the whole idea of the war is that two people in love messed up and everything was confusing and hard for them, but then suddenly they come to this realization that it's time to start from the beginning because the war is over. This song is about starting anew, i suppose. |

| The Smiths – Ask Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"The bomb will bring us together" always made me think of war (as a lot of people have been saying) and how it's either war or peace. there are no other options. did anyone else hear about this song from the book "to feel stuff"? When I read that book, I saw some of the lyrics to this song in the front page. |

| Bright Eyes – Laura Laurent Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the ending always takes my breath away | |
| Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Did it all get real: i think that the idea of being 'carried away on the crest of a wave' is that he has something, maybe an emotion, that is pulling him away from love just like a wave would do. in some of his older songs he talks about how he doesn't want to fall in love again because he doesn't want to get hurt, so maybe that's what the whole wave analogy means. I'm not sure about the dreamed instead of 'dreamt' part, although i did notice that too when i listened to the song... | |
| Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
the most meaningful part of the song for me is definitely: And Laura's asleep in my bed As I'm leaving, she wakes up and says "I dreamed you were carried away on the crest of a wave Baby, don't go away, come here" i dont know why, but for so long it has just moved me. the idea that he is going to leave her and she knows it just makes me sad. it's like she's begging for someone to love her. also i have grown up listening to Emmylou Harris, and when I first heard her on this album it made me really happy. |
