The Cure – Catch Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song isn't actually about comparing a past love to a current love, i think it is all about one person, "you" and "the girl" are the same person. i think it is a love song, possibly about fond memories from his relationship with this person. it is just too specific to be about two people.

The Cure – The 13th Lyrics 17 years ago
Err, the song bewilders me a bit, but about the title, in the video, at the start, the TV says "Number 12 in a series of brutal hotel slayings..."

A Perfect Circle – Pet Lyrics 17 years ago
Well, ti could be about addiction or politics, but I think it might just be about an abusive relationship. Like, knowing where you are is wrong, and that you will never truely be free while in it, but not knowing enough about the outside world to escape.

She Wants Revenge – Sister Lyrics 17 years ago
glancing through the curtain
questions unheard of
she spoke in third person
and he had seen everyone

Oh, or this part could mean she went to the window and looked out, classical uninterested after sex behavior. The questions unheard of could be him asking where things will go from there, and she just ignores him. The third person could be her referring to him scornfully to scornfully, but he had had it before.

She Wants Revenge – Sister Lyrics 17 years ago
Sister
[Ok. I don't think this has to do with a religious girl OR a nun. Sister could mean his actual sister, or a nun. Either way, it's simply a metaphor for her being forbidden fruit. He shouldn't be doing anything with this girl, but his judgment is marred.]

She smelled like 2 am
[It was late in the evening, he isn't exactly thinking straight]
took him back to her place
[self explanatory]
where all the saints adorned the walls.
[I don't think this means actual saints, so much as some sort of memento that tells him this is a bad idea. Be it something a very young girl would have in her room, or pictures of her family, who she may live with, I don't know.]
delivering her from grace
[I'm not sure, but I get the feeling they are using FROM as literally taking away. like, the things on her wall take her away from grace, grace being safe, comfortable ground for him]
he knew he should leave
[self explanatory.]
and this could only turn cold
[If he stays, it will just turn out badly]
she was a bad bad girl
[He knows she is too young/ whatever]
so he told her so
[He tells her that what they are doing is wrong.]

Under the shadows of doubt
he had the whisper of lust
[He was totally unsure if he should proceed, but his lust drove him on]
he said 'no touching tonight'
[He tried to tell her no]
she closed her eyes in his trust
she said 'tuck me in'
[she got disappointed, but tried a move that she thought would seduce him.]
he knew his judgment was sound
still he pulled back the sheets
and said
[He was pretty sure this was still a bad idea, but he did it anyway]

[Chorus]
you better lie down cause the angels are watching
[she should calm down and not ask him to do this because he knew he would be judged if he did. Whether this judgment is on a moral level, or by her parents, I don't know.]
she closed her eyes and said quit the talking
'you can hurt me do whatever you like'
[She tells him to be quiet, and that he can do anything he wants to, trying to convince him it was right]

Her every word was in italics
as it would fall from her lips
[I think this just means she was trying to be seductive, speaking in a sexy whisper :D]
the walls were made of broken promises
he hoped this wouldn't be his.
[He could tell she had been taken advantage of by older men before, and he didn't want to follow that road]
She said 'tell me what to do'
he knew right then he was done
[she pulled out the last straw, practically begging for him, and he finally gave in.]
feeling lonely and confused
he said
[He is still confused about the matter]

[Chorus]
'you better lie down the angels are watching'
she closed her eyes and said quit the talking
'you can hurt me do whatever you like'
[Same as before]
so he said 'shut your mouth girl the angels are listening'
[Be quiet, or your parents will hear]
she crossed herself now the moments are missing
[she was quiet, so as not to draw their attention]
'you can hurt me do whatever you like'
[She still wanted it]

glancing through the curtain
questions unheard of
she spoke in third person
and he had seen everyone
[I'm not sure, here... maybe he is almost discovered... he had seen her parents, known for sure she was young, and listened to her talk about him in third person, while hiding behind the curtain, maybe?]
awkward and imbittered
said 'shut the door when you go'
[He left on a bad note, she wanted nothing more to do with him]
perhaps he should've reconsidered (oh no)
when he said
[He thinks that he shouldn't have fallen.]
[Chorus]
you better lie down the angels are watching
she closed her eyes and said quit the talking
'you can hurt me do whatever you like'
so he said 'shut your mouth girl the angels are listening'
she crossed herself now the moments are missing
'you can hurt me do whatever you like'

She Wants Revenge – Written In Blood Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with Sandor on everything but the last part of the chorus. I think that yeah, it isnt a wedding, it's a funeral, but the fact that he refers to it as a wedding implies ti is related to love, or two people joining togther. But, I dont think the slow down thing is talking about a car wreck, more like, if they don't slow down with their relationship, everything is going to combust at once, and it will lead to the death of both of them, if they don't take ti slow.

She Wants Revenge – These Things Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the Popsicle thing may not be a sexual reference, just saying that she is so cold, that she will melt no matter how cold it is outside. i think the song is talking about an abusive relationship. The whole remember a joke in line and turn around, but no one's there thing could mean that he is either being stood up, or is just alone all the time, because she's too busy for him. "These things" are just the ways she mistreats him. She is locking him out of her life, pleasuring herself in the bathroom just means she is proving he is useless to her. He is whispering so no one figures out that she dosen't actually love him. If you watch the video, it reflects this. She treats him like a pet. Then, the second stanza, in which he says that lovers don't know they'll never own the one they love may mean that he thought he would always have her heart, then realized he couldn't hold onto it. Also, he states that people alone don't know how lucky they are, implying that he wishes he was alone, but he can't seem to leave this woman, even though he mistreats him.

The Crüxshadows – Sophia Lyrics 18 years ago
It seems almost to be a combination of science and religion... just from the spoken words, and the references to (a1kemi) Santa and Athena Sofia.

The Crüxshadows – Dragonfly Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that Dragonfly is a woman. I think she is probably dying, and he is trying to let her go. "Her voice fell tired and spent" "her outstretched wings, left tattered" indicate that she is worn down by life.
"a breath in time, that's yours and mine...it belongs to only us" This could indicate a last breath?
"And I will write her name and cast it to the sky, silhouettes recede into a mother's tearful eyes, a host of angels clamor to her side" These all indicate death, and that he is trying to "release the dragonfly", as in trying to accept her death, and let her go.
"but tonight, my love, ascend the gates, release the dragonfly" These seems to be where he decides it is what is best for her, and at the end "sometimes angels fall, but love will never die tonight my soul is something more"-calls the dragonfly." This also indicates the woman is the dragonfly, as it is her calling the words, and also that she is letting go and moving on to become something more.
