| Work Drugs – Aurora Lies Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Trying to figure out the meaning to this one is a bit difficult, but I must say that is the best sample of a multiple finger snap I've ever heard in a song. This song really puts me at ease. | |

song is amazing and I heard it on live acoutics volume 2 for the first time. Amazing. Someone from the crowd goes, "PLAY one for George W. " and he played this. "The way the hammer shapes the hand" we should discuss that that means |

ya I heard the speculation of Tom Marshall having an imaginary friend as a child. But more importantly is what that imaginary friend says to him.. Here are the lines that speak to me the most: For this was my big secret How I'd get ahead His answer came in actions He never spoke a word If you ever want to get ahead in life. Shut your damn mouth and do something about it. Get the book by Jerry Rubin called "do it". That explains a simple notion in a few hundred pages. Also, why do I have to see a fat dude become ripped out of the corner of my damn eye when typing this shit.. FN ads!! chubz |

| The Beatles – You've Got to Hide Your Love Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I just feel that after so many posts about the homosexuality thing, a song like this cannot encapsulate only that. Remember that "love is all you need" and I think LOVE is the central theme. No matter what your sexual preference, love is the most powerful emotion and you should not have to hide it away, therefore the sarcastic context of the chorus. If John was feeling two foot small, he never showed it, but here it is for us to read. "How can she say to me, love will find a way" says to me that John the ultimate believer in love is about to give up on love. He is so hurt by what happened, and if she leaves, yoko mabye, that he might loose faith. But that sadness could turn to anger by the end of the song, like I know it does and he calls us clowns..which i agree, we are. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. | |

| Thats because the song is not about that..although that may be true, that does not encapsulate the whole song, that is why John was a beatle and we are here typing shit on a post.... Ever Consider posting something worth reading? | |

| Phish – Roses Are Free Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song to me is incredible and no wonder Phish covers it. Easy to get vocabulary and complicated metaphors sound like they're straight out of a Phish songbook- IMO. But WEEN owns this song of course, and nevermind who does it better: my Opinion: There is a hint of American Alchemy here when he says "Get in your car and cruise the land of the brave and free" aka figure out what the hell you want to do with your life. AND "Carve out a pumpkin and rely on your destiny" and later he says "Throw that pumpkin at the tree, Unless you think that pumpkin holds your destiny" which IMO suggests that you find yourself doing something you love after cruising the land of the brave and free, and 10 years later you dont love it anymore and your mindset changes, throw the fucking pumpkin at the tree and start over. But also dont fuck it up.."Take a piece of tinsel and put it on the tree" but "But don't forget to understand exactly what you put on the tree". Basically live your life with meaning, and continue to do so. Dont let it wear out. see "NEMO" by Umphreys McGee. I think I can relate the two song meanings by very different bands.. MAD PROPS TO WEEN | |

They might be wasted as hell and might not. The point CaitySheabell makes is what I take from the song as well. Songwriters take whatever the hell makes them write better, and for some its sobriety. See the "25 of 6 to 4" debate about "Chicago". I think they were tripping while writing the song, as its a dual meaning song IMO, and some say it has nothing to do with drugs. Brilliant if Im right. Might I add my favorite part of this song "A family of trees wanted to be haunted". aka Humans can be disgusting and if you let your ego take over. So "Control yourself"! |

Not one person discussed the meaning of this song?? Its the same old SRV/Jimi Battle. Anyone who knows music knows there is no comparison. Its music. It comes from inside and people who compare musical geniouses are the same people they talk about in the song "dogs" by Pink Floyd. Look that one up. We all need a home. This song to me is about an outlet for Jimi since he never really got one besides music. it a song to uplift him above all of the pigs trying to control him and make him into what they want. Must be massively liberating to play. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace" -Jimi |

| Chicago – 25 or 6 to 4 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is definitely a dual theme song and I believe that its about LSD while writing late at night. Could it be possible that was the time of the day and the mixture of LSD25? Yep, its not a plainly flat song, its dimensional, which makes it a true classic. | |
| Moe. – Buster Lyrics | 18 years ago |

To me this song has not much to do with Floyd's pigs (only Link is similar) and is all polarity. Alchemy. It actually explains what is going on in my life and is therefore a motivating song. I can only say what it means to me, and that is that Buster and Link are the same blood if not the same Pig, it never says that they are siblings "but an evil twin" and can represent different aspects YOUR OWN personality if you will. and Buster is the side that believes that he can achieve his dreams. "They say pigs see the wind blow, They say do or die" Link on the other hand just cranks out his job in a suit, hangs with high society Bees, eats gouda. Convincing Buster-types that they cant fly- and they are something they are not, "Referred to his snout as a nose" "Pigs can fly" is repeated 4x for a reason and is the metaphor the impossible- But also: A rotten stink to a pig is not a bad thing! And while Link is an asshole to make his life better he needs to change and follow his dreams, so he convinces Buster to Fly That is the only explaination for the flip flop at the end. It would make too much sence if it said, "Buster can't aviate". So here I sit at a computer programmers desk dreaming of Moe.'s buster and the time I danced by the speaker at the 6-23-07 show to Buster, wishing I was a musician. Pigs can Fly. |
