Then why would he be singing 'gonna turn that sun into rain' - wouldn't that be a reference to 'on the sunny side of town'? But even apart from that, 'surly' doesn't even make sense in the context of the song, in my opinion. I could be wrong though, I'm not a native speaker. |

This song and Madness' 'My Girl' are very much alike in both meaning and lyrics. I like it very much, it's The Rifles' best song in my opinion. |
