all the lyrics are lines that are directly taken out of the stranger. essentially, what needs to be understood about the stranger, is that he is an outcast and outsider to society. he does not fit in not want to in. society cant handle or accept him being this way. their execution of him, is a statement about people who have no desire to fit in and be exactly like them. it makes sense that robert smith would be attracted to the stranger. since, in other songs he alludes to himself being an outsider/ outcast. and camus is an absurdist, not an existentialist. which does actually make a difference. |

stuart murdoch started playing in coffee shops under the name "lisa helps the blind" which is why lisa keeps reappearing in several song. this directly links back to the band's original name by putting lisa in a blindfold and meeting another blind kid. love this song far too much for words. |

this song is about ending her relationship with graham nash. there are several songs written by the both of them that chronicle their romance. graham nash wrote "our house" about being happily in love with joni in laurel canyon. in which joni responded back with "ladies of the canyon" this isjoni's song about the end of the relationship. graham nash responded with writing "simple man" which can be found on his solo album "songs for beginners" probable his best song yet. theres probable more songs about their short lived relationship that lasted between about 68 to 72. |
