| David Gilmour – Take a Breath Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| To me this song sounds like a struggle to let go of the ego. At the end he says "The you'll find out that there's no one else." He says all this after struggling with the ego and throwing it overboard. He tells it to swim for sure and that once he finds himself he finds out that there is no one else. That sound like spirit nature talking to human nature to me. It's the kinda of metaphor I use when I write about spiritual things. The part where he says "I never got to you by being kind." Only furthers my assumption. Bruce Lee once said food is strength for the boday ,and sorrow is strength for the spirit. Sounds like Gilmour was having an existential Arguement between his unborn nature and ego. In the end the ego realized that it didn't even exist. Of course I could be wrong. Could be about throwing some douche bag off a boat that ya don't like. Prolly not ,but either way this song is almost angry in how he sings ,and the way it sounds. The slide guitar solo in the end always get's. God bless gilmour for making such beautiful tunes. I might be to young to have ever been able to see Floyd or really even care about them way back when(I grew up in hip hops prime) ,but hey at least I have gilmour still making them beautiful tunes that send me to far off places in the universe. Long live Gilmour ,and long live Syd Barrett. Two crazy diamonds shining bright for all to see. | |
