I KNEW Cassie and Racheal...both very deep christians, both died for their God, but it was Cassie who this song talks about, and in some versions she talks of both though... Please stop saying it wasn't Cassie and Racheal...Please. On the other hand, if you've heard the acousitic version of this song... i swear that she sings "and my sister cassie pulled it..." I've tried to look up the lyrics online to no avail, but i still swear that is what she sings.....anyone agree?? |

my GOSH children. Before you question whether or not the band is christian, you should: 1. grab your cd 2. look on the back 3. find who records them 4. it's TOOTH AND NAIL Got that? You should know that t&N only record christian artsists. T&N is a CHRISTIAN RECORD LABEL. I'd like to know what interviews your reading because i got to talk to the lead singer after a concert and he said they were christian... I'M CONFUSED.... as to totheendmcr04's comment: just because a band is christian doesn't mean that they are inclined to have God and Jesus written into the lyrics. i mean check out DEAD POETIC once and you'll see what i mean... NOW THAT'S the END. |

| This is a song too perfect to be picked over by cynics (positive or negetive), so beautiful. dead-on--poetic. | |

| Thank GOD, that Brandon is a friggin' perfectionist. If he wasn't, his lyrics couldn't be so damn hard to interpret!!! That is what i buy his albums for after all...to listen to the lyrics and attempt to decode the cyriptic lyrics, i look forward to their (sadly) last cd, he owes it to us to make it exta confusing!!! ANYONE AGREE??? look at my lyrics at fictionpress.com , the song: secrets of a deadman (sung like ~animals...). | |
| Dead Poetic – Cannibal vs. Cunning Lyrics | 18 years ago |

NO NO NO fireprofed00 (although very good and acceptable by all means), in my opinion, is incorrect. See, i brought it in for my class to evaluate and after my explanation they all agreed by popular opinion. And by the way, for all the people that don't know it, Dead Poetic is a christian band under a christian label. Hem-hem: "And this cell’s just as cold as you left it, And I’m scratching the walls to escape it" gives the meaning away. It's inevitably a christian that is locked up in a cell by Satan (the cannibal) and it is just as harsh and cold as Jesus said it would be, and now the christian is struggling to get away from his sin (scratching the walls to excape it). "Leave it to the Cannibal now.Feed him what’s left of us, the rest of us.Leave it to the Cannibal now.Feed him what’s left of us. The Cunning wins again." The chourus means leave it to satan to trick you into sin, and we (crowded by mainstream Hollywood) feed it to him and he loves it and is eating us up, but we barely notice it until we hit rock bottome- the cell. "I’m the glorified liar sending you sentiment,And then posing as the innocent. You don’t know about ignorance or pain,But you said you could take it away." He is condemming Satan as what i explained: cunningly pulling us into sin by glorifying it and saying that it's okay. "You call this inspiration. I call this a charade. Driven by institution. Hell-bent on cleaning the stain. I should grab all these cannibals, lay them all in a straight line,And deny their requests for more, more, more." He calls out Satan and realizes now that he lies and can now truly interperet through his show - his charade. And in the end he is sharing the word out to the world about what Satan is doing. THAT is MY OPINION. What do you say? |
