another part of this song that can be interperated is abandon your rifles, this can be saying that in society today religions are starting to provoke less violence despite their violent past(puritans at the salem witch trials, cathlics with the holocaust, etc) and that many religious lobbiest and religious politicians are pushing for anti-gun laws despite the constitution. but as living shadow said this can be viewed in many diffrent ways so all dependxs on your mind set or how otep wanted to write it. |

yes evenstar is correct it is called filthee, but this song is a brilliant song that falls into place with the "jones town tea" song. this song though more describes a single event, and how a person feels after being raped, taken advantige of or how ever you want to phrase it. part of this song that makes it so brilliant are the metaphors such as "she wants to fuck delilah, without samson's intervention" which is brilliant because it describes how people feel after terrable life events |

this song is a fuckin miracle worker, coming from a background where i can relate to those words it helps through the darkest days in your life. the pain in the song is so real and true that every time i hear it i cant help but cry... trsut me this song does come from personal experiance and is there to help out any one who has gone to similar tragedies. in my personal experiance with otep though to feel the full intensity of the song and meaning for that matter you must see it live...sorry the album cut is great but the live version is alot better and is unbelievable |

the song menocide is more then just speaking out on the oppresion of women, granted it is sexist, granted it has some dirt in the words, but as a male otep fan listening to this song it has alot more meaning then the oppresion given to women around this world. i am not denying the fact and reality of this song but what i am saying is this song to me gives a message that a person should not have to kneel to their knees in the name of a master, boss, keeper, parent, man, women, etc that a person should live freely and with out worries of being treated like shit. this is only my opinion and thats whats so great about a website about this is people can voice their opinion on a song they feel relevent to and be heard by other fans, artist, etc menocide is not just saying kill all men in the world its saying stand up speak out and strike back! |
