| Alison, the singer in Goldfrapp, said on the radio that the song is a satirical take on hospital a&e wards. She said it's about a short time she spent in hospital a while ago, emphasising that it was only a brief visit, but she wouldn't say what she was in for. I've heard it mentioned a few times that it sounds like a suicide attempt/drug overdose, which I personally think the lyrics really relate to this. I think it describes a last ditch desperate attempt to get someone she loved to take notice of her, 'hoped you'd see me'. So sad :-( SUch a beautiful song though, very addictive and mesmerising x | |
