The Police – Don't Stand So Close To Me Lyrics 18 years ago
well, form how i see. the girl likes him ['the subject of schoolgirl fantasy' & 'inside there's longing'] and he likes her as well. but, unfortunately, she's half his age and she's his pupil. but she makes it very clear to him she likes him ['this girl's an open page'].

so, now she's his favorite ['to be the teacher's pet'] and the other girls are jealous because they all like him as well because he's young and probably very good-looking. he's really tormented over her because he wants her so much but he knows he can't ['temptation, frustration so bad it makes him cry']. and one day he sees her waiting in the raina t the bus stop and finally gives in. ['his car is warm and dry'] so the two finally hook up.

finally, the rumour of their hook-up is leeked ['loose talk in the classroom'] and the other girls are so jealous they make it ten thousand times worse ['to hurt they try and try'] the staff find out and accuse him of seducing her and so on. he tries to defend himself, but she's showed up and now he's so nervous he gives himself away. ['it's no use...he starts to shake and cough']

the 'don't stand so close to me' part is what he's telling her. at first, it's to stop the urges he's feeling for her. then, it's so they don't get caught.

the nabokov reference was the book 'lolita' which sting used to create the song. but it is not in any way about his own career because he's vehemently said he did not do this ever when accused of it.

Sara Bareilles – Love Song Lyrics 18 years ago
sara bareilles seems to enjoy poking fun at different things in this album and this is another example. the song is making fun of love songs. there are so many different types of love songs-break-up, apology, promising- that people write to the person they love. she is kinda just saying i don't have to write you a love song to prove how much i love you["'cause you asked for it, 'cause you need one"] or whether or not i love you at all["i'm trying to let you hear me as i am"]. she says the person should proclaim their love too if they want one so badly["heart is nowhere in it i don't want it for a minute"].

Sara Bareilles – Fairytale Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is pretty much making fun of fairytales. she's explaining that women don't have to wait for a man to sweep them off their feet or save them because we've become a lot more independent since these tales were created. so she says she would rather make her own fairytale than follow someone else's. that's why she constantly says 'your fairytales'. the song is addressed to men who still believe that women should act like these fair maides for them to rescue.
