Some corrections IMO, 1.) "What'd I just say? "Nigga g'head" - you see that?" should be "What'd I just say? "Niggaz don't hear you" - you see that?". Read the lyrics before to see if it makes sense. 2.) "If the dog got he's gonna bring back a bone" should be "Let the dog out he's gonna bring back a bone" As for the meaning its pretty straightforward. A tupac-ish metaphor of him living on forever through his music (Relatives grievin, but I ain't went nowhere/Listen to the song (C'MON) I'm right there). As for being afraid that he's "never gon' fly", that's basically what his point was in "Let Me Fly", which is that he'd rather die than not shine (see lyrics for "Let Me Fly" for more info). |

| DMX – Stop Being Greedy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Agree with above. I think its "ribs is touching" as well. Also it should be "Will I, kill, I think death is wrong" instead of "Will I, can i think death is wrong" in the first verse | |
| Tupac Shakur – I Ain't Mad At Cha Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think Tupac is talking about how is isn't mad at his homies who died, got sent to the pen or just got out the game. Friends who left him in general for either reason. Tupac even says it at the end of the song in the video version: "for all the homeboys that passed away, all the homeboys locked in jail". And of course there was the first verse that was seemingly to Napolean. The message he's basically trying to send out is that he isn't mad at everyone who left him alone in the game, either by dying, being locked up or just moving on. It would make sense since people get angry at someone they lose for leaving them, either through death or otherwise. He's saying he understands how everyone gotta do what they gotta do and move on and that's just how things turned out. At the start he actually says "Changes, its all a part of growing up". This is echoed on alot of other Pac songs where he raps about losing friends and being the last one left, but at the same time how's he's still a playa 4 life and will always ride. R.I.P Mr Shakur You'll always be missed... |

| Tupac Shakur – Changes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Tired of reading through 230+ posts. Tired of reading the same old shit. People who say he contradicted himself or don't understand why he was the greatest, take some time out to listen to more of his music. I think its pretty damn clear what he was about and what his message was to me. And it was a consistent one. Nothing contradicting about him as much as anyone, that's how life is. People that don't bother to find out for themselves don't really deserve to know how great he was. | |
| Tupac Shakur – Shorty Wanna Be A Thug Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| For me this song is about what the ghetto and society does to you, and how absurd it is when it happens at such a young age. But the thing that's special for me is that he doesn't preach to kids by simply saying stop doing it, its not good etc. He's illustrating that he can't really do much about it, because its the system, so all he can do is to tell them to play their part and watch out (last part when he's talking). three mistakes, then that's life... Pac was the realest. | |

Yeah that's a crazy, audacious line. Another great one was "Then B.I. said, "Hov' remind yourself nobody built like you, you designed yourself". Wow |

| Jay-Z – Song Cry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The song is basically talking about how he never cared or thought much about his infidelity when he was with her and cheating on her. So his takes this time out to lament on what he shouldn't have done. You can see this from the lyrics "I can't see em' coming down my eyes, so I gotta make this song cry." and "I seen em' coming down ur eyes". Basically saying he never had tears for her then and now its already too late for tears, so all he can do is make this song cry. |

Em outshines him on skill on this one, but Hov still stole the show with the best line for me: "raising my fingers to critics, raising my head to the sky Big I did it, multi before I die." This and the following line he talks about taking responsibility for HIS own decision, whether critics liked it or not. You can't really say he's made the wrong choice. Close to 500 mil and he's got everything else too, including street cred. Besides that emotional line about Big, he once again underlines his strategic and single-minded focus. |

| "and for the first time everybody let go, and the streets is death row..." One of his illest lines ever. | |
| Nas – You're Da Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Your arms too short to box with God"? Erm Black Star(Kweli) used a smiliar line "your firearms are too short to box with God"? And Black Star came out in 98, Stillmatic in 01 if I'm not wrong. So I'm not sure if it originated from Nas. I remember Xzibit using something similar in a song with Kweli as well. Not that I'm playa hating though, this is my favourite Nas song of all time, and one of my fav. hip hop songs. The line that killed it for me was "I beg for God's help, why they love hurtin' me. I'm your disciple, a thug certainly". Lines about flying away to Ghana and the metamorphosis into a king from all his struggles were dope too. This is truly Nas on his throne, at the top of his game. |
