| Band of Horses – Cigarettes, Wedding Bands Lyrics | 18 years ago |

this song always make me think about my parents divorce. the line 'Failure, he said, times two breeds contempt Wash your hands of it forever' always makes me think of a child of divorce growing up and having a healthy marriage in spite of their parents failures. 'Our parents hands: cigarettes, wedding bands'... my mom started smoking once she left my dad. he was heartbroken. he didn't wanna give up his marriage but my mom was in a rush to. so her hand held the cigarette while his held on to the wedding band (thats just my distorted child-from-a-broken-home interpretation) |

| this song is so pure to me. not really happy or sad. just calm. like the calm after a terrible storm. | |

this song reminds me of someone who is driving herself crazy striving for an extreme perfection.she looses the spark of her youth and is worn by setting the bar too high for herself.this perfectionist has a love that notices the void (what the hell has got into you) and promises to 'stick by her side' and remind her to 'throw caution to the breeze ' this song is beautifully written. it gives me hope that one day i too will find someone who will be there for me when i am not |

i've narrowed it down to 3 possibilities: a) kurt cobain, because of the suicide b)john lennon because of yoko ono and the break up of the beatles c)elvis because of the drug use or maybe even the army...? regardless, i still adore the song |

| The Shins – Sleeping Lessons Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| to me this song is about living your own distinct life and having your own personal opinions. we live in such a world where we can say, wear, play, and be who we wish and embracing that is fucking awesome! no one is forced to be anything they don't want to be | |

to me this song is about sexual addiction... 'Just one more dance to help me sleep' 'And that black rock in your bedroom I hope you'll climb it soon' i guess the addiction is somewhat abstract..it could be any addiction, but mostly sexual... anyway thats what i absorbed from the song.it makes me smile |
