| This song has to be one of the most beautiful rock songs ever, yes, I said beautiful. It has to be one of there deepest and most meaningful songs. Will probably always be one of my favourites of theirs. | |

I've spent a long time think about this song, most people think Meddle has no actual meaning to it, but just a group of random song, which could be true, and unlike Dark Side. But I think Echoes has a story of it's own. It could be taken on in different views, pretty much just what mood or situation you are in. "Strangers passing in the street By chance two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me..." This has to be one of my favourite quotes from any song. These two people have never met before, but when they look at each other, there is an apparent connection, almost as if they are ment to be together, but never will be... Just what I think. |

I'm quoting form a friend: "My interpretation: There's a woman who thinks she has got everything she will ever need. She is told about the Piper (actually maybe Satan) who is supposed to bring them all to reason. But those that stand long (don't follow) will get the last laugh. After the drums come in, we are told that we have two paths we can go by, and no matter how bad we screw up, there's always time to get back on the right path (hence: "I think this is a song of hope"). The Piper is still wanting us on his side, and thus, our stairway is on the whispering wind - our own free will. After the gutar solo we are told as we are going down the path of life we will find people on one road or another. We find the lady we were told about at the beginning of the song, and she finally finds out the error of her ways, but it is too late." I liked it. |
