I think that the song is about a girl who's hooked on cocaine and therefore has resorted to prostitution. The first stanza (that's what you'd call it I guess) is about her luring clients. Then the orca whales and owls are symbolizing her childhood dreams (maybe she had hoped to grow up and be a vet or something). The when she says "you will never be my fool" she's saying it like "you're a fool, and some other women might get stuck with you but not me." The third paragraph is like when she wakes up the next morning. Eye floaters can be caused by cocaine use, so that's probably what that's referencing. And shes just looking around at everything and realizing that she ruined her life; she's too young and should be in school and not a prostitute. Then the forth stanza goes back to her dreams as a young child. The fifth stanza is like her looking in the mirror after using her cocaine (or looking at it or buying it; something) and thinking "wow, is that really me?" In confusion she tries to figure out who she is and wear she lives, where she lived as a child. But she can't figure it out. When she leaves the hotel, the porter sees her. He had picked up on the fact that she was a prostitute, and she had to pay him to keep him quiet. Then, the seventh stanza is where she's regretfully saying "I'll never know this client of mine, we wont be friends." It's like she has one client who she wants to be closer to, to be "dear friends" as opposed to the other "fools." |

| It seems to just be a short little tune. But could it like have a hidden meaning? Like playing as in masturbating? Or am I looking to far into it? | |

I absolutely LOVE this song :) She has a great voice and i LOVE her accent. Basically, as said before, the song is all about being a real person. She uses mouthwash, she has a family, she's not perfect ("the occasional spot"). My favourite lines are "And, this, is my brain, it's torturous analytical thoughts make me go insane" because I can relate to that. Sometimes I just want to screan "Shut up, brain, shut up!" |
