| Josh Ritter – Joy To You Baby Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I can't wait for the new album and I really like this song as well. It took a few listens but really has grown on me. Also, Ryan Adams' Desire is also a good song but I really don't hear any similarities. | |
| Josh Ritter – Harrisburg Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I'm with Foxglove and NewbiaTheElf. Although I do really like some of these interpretations, I feel like the theme is a bit more general. Josh Ritter often incorporates bits of history into his song's subject matter but I don't think this is meant to be a history lesson. I don't think this song is about a particular person in a specific time period but rather just a story with a running historical metaphor throughout. "Harrisburg" is about a man who abandons his home, family, and faith. He doesn't know what he's looking for so he just leaves it all behind, hops a train, and keeps going. He becomes lost and in the end he never reaches or even figures out a destination; he dies in the hole 'in-between.' Some may blame God, some Romero himself, but if evil is to blame then the fault is in the train tracks (or whatever temptation drew him astray) for pulling him away from his life. | |
| Josh Ritter – Wolves Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with most posts here. I see the wolves as his "wild and free" side. Or even the part of him that fears being tied down with commitment. I see it as similar to what Chris O'Donnell went through in The Bachelor with the wild horse visions. The wolves are out there almost beckoning him to run with them and be one of them instead of being fixed in a relationship that he is having more than just second thoughts about. | |
| Speechwriters LLC – Beach Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This whole part isn't in the version of the song that I have... "I must've sat out there for days, Dip my fingers in the waves and Watch them wash away As if it was a dream I'd had. These pains that I can't help to feel. These scars that I don't wanna heal Her soap's still in my shower This empty bed's too big without her Weaned on crap 'n roll, I like the soul to ride my way out of a Paper bag and into someone's heart. This scene's been torn apart by pretty boys with drum machines And stupid words that no one means And I've been trying so hard to keep Myself from sounding insincere." |

| Pretty straightforward huh? | |
| The Everly Brothers – All I Have To Do Is Dream Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I don't really see this as being a one sided thing. I believe it is more that he is dreaming about someone he is in love with. Being "in love" and having a crush that you day dream about are not the same thing. "I can make you mine Taste your lips of wine Anytime, night or day Only trouble is, gee whiz I'm dreaming my life away" Which is most of the song... is recalling something he knows about. Remembering what he has with the person when he is with them.. not simply fantasizing in his head. Sweet song. |

| Joshua Radin – Paperweight (with Schuyler Fisk) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Just listened to this song for the first time and it is breathtaking. Its been a while since I cried as hard as I still am right now. The feeling of pure love that this song expresses is one of the most amazing feelings. His/her presence is all you need to make you feel wonderful and to lie in bed with someone like that is just as special as the song describes. The song is so simple and yet says so much truth. Truly wonderful. | |
