House of Blow – afghani black Lyrics 18 years ago
***I forgot to write why I gave that little Head Automatica explanation... this song feels like a revival of that old Daryl sound, but evolved.

This song is so beautiful. It's been my kinda dirty little secret that I'm not much of a fan of Head Automatica. I mean, it's alright, but not as good as Glassjaw IMO, probably because Glassjaw's my favorite band. This song reminds me of GJ's Losten, but with a much edgier sound. I love Daryl Palumbo.

1. This song is called Losten.

2. If you pull it apart, you could look at it as him saying "fuck you" to the girl, and in another way he might be saying "fuck you" to himself.

"The rice paper princess gets two for her flinches"
Rice paper is a very fragile material, and he's saying that something or someone punishes her for being weak.

I'm not sure what the horns on the hood of a saint references to.

I think that in the line about the tiger, the tiger is him. And he pushed her away because she was just drowning him with love. But once she was gone, he was heartbroken, and it haunts him.

And he knows that she's listening to him, because when you're in a close enough relationship with someone, even if you never talk years down the road, if that person's band released an album, you'd buy it.

And I think that he's bitter with himself for having waited too long to tell her that he loves her.

"Now the record's over" is a nice touch, considering that it's at the end of the last song on the album.

This is just one way of pulling the lyrics apart. I could very easily be wrong.

I like the unedited version of the video for this song better. Even though a little piece of me died a little bit seeing Daryl get shot. He has no idea yet, but he will be fathering my children.

I love this song so much! I think that it's about a relationship with an overwhelming amount of love and how it ended badly. I fucking LOVE Daryl Palumbo so much, you have no idea...
