i believe this song is about how time ends everything. including relationships. when androgony was kind of the "it" thing in music and fashion back in the 70's, a lot of people where bi-sexual, including Bowie. So in the lyrics where he says "his script is you and me, boy." i believe he's talking about a man he's either having an affair with or is either a spouse. and he's telling him that the relationship will, in fact, come to an end. |

actaully. the song just may be about the fear of sleep as a child, like the fear of bad dreams or closet monsters. i dont think its about depression or drug addiction. robert smith has said himself that just because the way his songs are low tone and his look is "goth" doesnt mean he is depressed. he's said that he actually leads and has lead a very happy life. and in the video to this song (which is really creepy) its robert smith trying to hide behind blankets on a bed while he watches the "spider man" enter into his room and scare him. very beautiful song though. |

the lyrics are rather simple. the whole album is about the end of a relationship and fighting with one's own demons. this song is my favorite. but the lyric is not "Hurts, I love too much It's not enough your love goes and my love grows And life is like a pie" its, "I love you much. You love blow and I love puff. And life is like a pipe..." Amy is obviously reffering to a man who enjoys sex while she on the other hand just loves to smoke. And no matter how much she hates him, she loves him. |
