| The Offspring – Self Esteem Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
If you listen to the riffs back to back, the opening riff sounds almost exactly like Smells Like Teen Spirit. Anyway I guess I'm hearing this song differently than most people. Whenever he's talking about having no self esteem and fucking her cuz he's not a dweeb he's not just trying to convince the listener of this but also himself. "I know I'm being used Thats ok man because i like the abuse" the way he's singin' it sounds like the relationship is tearin' him up but he's trying to accept it because he doesn't want the girl to leave completely. I don't even think the last verse is any kind of vengeance. She was out going wild, not thinking shit about the guy in the song like usual, then she went over to his house and demanded a quick fuck. "Drunk again and looking to score". The song doesn't mention any manipulation or persuasion from the guy, she just got hammered and wanted a booty call. At least this's is how I interpret the song. Its a sad song but instead of whined out it gets rocked out, much like Weezer's old songs. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Guerrilla Radio Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Rage Against the Machine kicks the shit out of every other "fuck authority" band I've heard. And they're not political posers, which is a nice change from the usual. Gotta admit Tom Morello's guitar work and Zack De La Rocha's rapping style makes the band though. The bass and drums might not be incredible, but hey, they're competent aren't they? I think this song is about cutting loose over the radio and telling the truth for everyone to hear, uncencored, and pretty much taking over the station. I hear it more as an idealistic "what-if" anthem than a reference to what is actually happening today. P.S: I usually like when he starts repating a particular part of the song. Its a good build up. |

| Prince – Little Red Corvette Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Awsome song. I never noticed the lyrics too much other than the chorus til' I saw them on this site. Seems to be talkin' about a girl who is too much of a slut for even Prince's taste. And in badass fashion he pretty much says "fuck it, we're gonna do it and by the time I'm done you'll never want to sleep with anyone but me!" Little Red Corvette: Ashamed to say I actually didn't get this reference before, but yeah, vagina sounds like its true meaning. |

| Redbone – Come and Get Your Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Lennon, I apprciate your interpretation. That would make sense, but is there anyway you could show some sort of proof you toured with Redbone? I'm a trusting person but, you know, people can pretty much say anything over the internet. By the way, the Mexican peoples do have a Native American heritage. | |
| Bruce Springsteen – I'm on Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Sounds like pedophilia to me. Kind of sucks, I really like Springstein's music. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Salute to Kareem Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Salute to Kareem... Abdul Jaabar? | |
| Redbone – Come and Get Your Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Just a really nice love song. This was great to see live on midnight special. It's a shame no one else has commented on this yet. Actually though, a seperate interpretation is that this might be about unrequited love, and the narrator doesn't understand why his feelings aren't being returned, and is in fact in denial of this rejection. |

| Barenaked Ladies – Alcohol Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's about alcohol, and it's obviously fairly anti-alcohol. | |
| Queen – Don't Stop Me Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |

About sexual freedom. Most of the lines can be seen as sexual metaphores: "I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars On a collision course I am a satellite I'm out of control I am a sex machine ready to reload Like an atom bomb about to Oh oh oh oh oh explode/I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity I'm a racing car passing by" The nonmetaphores also go with this theme: "Tonight I'm going to have myself a real good time/If you wanna have a good time just give me a call" Also notice the talk of wanting to make a man out of one person and a woman out of the next. An obvious reference to bisexuality which further compliments the theme of sexual freedom. |

| Gorillaz – Kids With Guns Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Probably about being drafted into war, or to a lesser extent kids being influenced to go to war. It's ridiculous, kids can be gunning people down before they're old enough to drink. | |
