He comes back to still find her drawing lines, he thinks maybe he should say something to put his mind at rest so he can move on. "The ones you love already left", family gave up on her. S"ay your piece and move on", I think he is saying this to himself. Then he closes out with, hey I'm leaving, you won't see me in the morning...

I think this song is about how he wanted a girl really badly and fell for her "you got me now", even though she didn't love him. However, things started to change over time. He can't remember how they changed, they just did and now the girl that he could never have "you looked like everything I wanted" was the girl he had and probably should have never had to begin with (And as you came along, slowly everything began to change, I've got you now).
And now that he has her, he needs to let her go, it's time to give her back. To me the first and last paragraphs are the ones that really drive the song home...I need to know if you were real (reflecting)...almost as if he can't believe any of this really happened. As his vision fades, he'll blame it on her eyes...probably the same eyes that got him to begin with.
That's my interrpration anyway...I've listened to this song 1000x, it fits a piece of my life that I have a tough time placing my finger on...but this song somehow describes the way I feel about it PERFECTLY (music and lyrics). |

Great song...like a poster said above, it hits you when you hear it...you are forced to stop and listen. I think there are strong religious overtones in this song. |
