i heard this song for the first time tonight in probably 3 years and came home and immediately downloaded it. the music is beautiful, and the lyrics actually perfectly fit a current situation of mine. my best guy friend and i have always had issues: i trust people indefinitely, he trusts no one, i try to be generous and humble, hes narcicistic and cocky, and we both have always pretended we didnt have feelings for each other. then recently we decided to see what could happen and he basically screwed it up. in short, we (as a couple) failed miserably. and this song just reminds me of that. i know it's not the best, most deep, psychological interpretation i could give, but it's what fits my life. Think i'm gonna go explore some more Jet stuff after hearing this one... never really listened to them before. yay for songs that actually relate to real life! =) |

I love how it sounds completely random and crazy when you listen to it the first few times, until you realize what regina is actually saying. then it just becomes really amazing. hmm... wonderful imagery and slightly disturbing metaphors - what's not to love? |

hmmm... i'm not in the mood to disect this song at the moment, but i wanted to comment on how much i love it. I just recently realized what a cute song it is. And yes, i don't find it sad, i find it rather sweet. Maybe it's the tone Regina sings it in, I'm not sure. Also, just noticed this at the bottom of the comment box- what's with this thing about not adding lyric corrections in comments? that's weird. Ahhh this makes life so annoying. hahaha. oh well. =) |

this is my friend Alysha's absolute most favorite Regina song. We tend to blast it and sing along in the fake British accent. So fun! =) there is definitely something about it thats a bit dark and chilling as well. Maybe the repetetive, DEATH. hah. i dunno. |

I vote nickluminary is right about the Paris thing. She goes back to Paris at the end. I think that's the point. Ne me quitte pas is French, why can't she pronounce the "Paris" the French way? Think about it, where's Bowery anyways??? As far as the second part, i have NO idea. All I know is "ballas" and "lipdamales" isn't French, so don't ask me. Ballads and lipped-mouths makes the most sense, i guess..? had to comment on this song... it is my inspiration, afterall. =) |

amazing song. i happen to think the meaning is pretty straightforward. i also think its such a beautiful attitude to have when faced with that kind of a situation. I dunno, i guess i just can't see putting yourself through such horrors when you could just get a new outlook and live life to its fullest. But then again, i haven't been faced with the situation either. Also, i think some of the lyrics are wrong, but i'm not sure... "when they came out they said you'll be ok anyway and i smiled cause i'd known it all the while" "no thank you, no thank you, no thank you, no thank you i ain't about to pay for this shit" stop jaywalking is right "momma gonna go out in style..." (on all of them) and... "Sophie only wants to listen to radio BBC Michael sat on my knees and whispered to me all about the meanies" Other than that, amazing song. Period. |

wow, just old light... i never really had my own interpretation of this song until i read that. and for some strange reason, it makes sense! I think it was the "you don't even have good credit" line that did it for me. Like he has been all over the place and "been" all these different people, and therefore doesn't even have a good reputation or an honest past. And fine, the drug references are there, but i honestly didn't even notice them until someone mentioned it. But really, it's Regina. Her songs can always be interpreted a thousand different ways. Hence the reason she's so damn brilliant. oh and btw... for some reason this song has always made me want to tango. am i the only crazy one? |
