| Richard Walters – All At Sea Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This is my second favourite song by Walters... #1 being Where We Stand. Absolutely beautiful. Happy to have heard him live last year. | |
| Cyndi Lauper – I Don't Want To Be Your Friend Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I have a real soft spot for this song and am slightly amazed its not got more love on here. It's strong and realistic and brilliant. A favourite for sure. | |
| Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics | 15 years ago |

There's been so much said about this already ... just wanted to add my 2c. It is, I think, obviously about the end of a relationship. But trying to remain yourself. It's dealing with the fall out (or the lack of it) - everything just goes. The furniture leaves, creating the "crop circles in the carpet", the pictures (oily marks) and everything that was shared, goes. But there are some things that stay - the "trains and sewing machines" - the parts of you that were always there, "they were here first", before this relationship ever even started. I see that line, however emotional, as a reminder that there are some things, some extremely important things, that no matter what happen, stay solid and dependable. |

| Emilíana Torrini – Beggar's Prayer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love the borrowing from Carol Ann Duffy's 'Prayer', in this... For your preusal, the poem: Some days, although we cannot pray, a prayer utters itself. So, a woman will lift her head from the sieve of her hands and stare at the minims sung by a tree, a sudden gift. Some nights, although we are faithless, the truth enters our hearts, that small familiar pain; then a man will stand stock-still, hearing his youth in the distant Latin chanting of a train. Pray for us now. Grade 1 piano scales console the lodger looking out across a Midlands town. Then dusk, and someone calls a child's name as though they named their loss. Darkness outside. Inside, the radio's prayer - Rockall. Malin. Dogger. Finisterre. |

| actually, i think that this song is more about beginning a relationship than having sex. she's ready to take that step. | |
| Robots in Disguise – Turn It Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |

ok guyyssss, after lots of reading around and lots of careful listening, my two cents... during 'in ashes to ashes', dee sings the following: in delia's gone, i'll keep it with mine, birdland, clouds in sous le soleil exactement, sunshine superman, i want you, ghosts in some velvet morning, paperwings, virginia avenue, laura if the kids are united during 'in pretty vacant', she sings: in fuck the pain away, get into the groove, penetration, boys in give me shelter, kung fu fighting, automatic, white lines in i'm a poser, smells like teen spirit, the robots submerge (? i'm unaware of this last one being a song) if the kids are united |

| Robots in Disguise – The Tears Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
secondhandsky - that's how the lyrics read in the cd sleeve. i think it's probably "hidden" under another "I'll cut her up". i've got to say, this song is so amazing. it blows me away. but i think there's an extension to what woowah has said - i don't think it's so much about the moment you find out about cheating, but being in a relationship when you know it's going to happen. perhaps again and again, quite often, but sticking with them despite it. "i'm your slave, got to taste the tears" |
