"Just think of this and me as just a few of many things to lie around, to clutter up your shelves And I wish you weren't worth the wait cause there's something's I'd like to say to you" he feels utterly useless to a someone and he is frikin tired of being this way and wants to make a move, only that he still has to wait and check up on how things turn out for the meantime before he could ever do something, and he wants to express this pain to her but he can't cos he just has to wait "And I don't think that you know what you've been missing Cause I don't think that you know what you've been missing" he tells the someone that life with me is one heck of a ride, and i just wish you'd take it with me. "And I dare you to forget the marks you left across my neck from those nights when we were both found at our best Now I could make this obvious and you you could deny me all in one breath you could shrug me off your shoulders" the someone probably knows everything he's been going through.. either he tells that person himself or it was discovered through other ppl. "marks across my neck" could be literal marks, or figurative marks of utmost joy or profound sadness. he really wants to make a move and finally clear things bet. him and this person ["said i could make this obvious"] but is afraid that if this is not the right time, he could be rejected and/or eventually ignored ["and you, you could deny it all in one breath.. well come and shrug me off your shoulder"]. he is definitely confused. "Hey lush, have fun, it's the weekend" this could mean he assumes that the someone feels happier with some other person. it's the weekend [they could be together, and he's completely out of the current picture], and he'll rather spend it knowing that the someone's happy than knowing he's happy, but the someone's not. "Just forget me, it's that simple" combining all the themes evoked by this song: uselessness, loneliness, indecision, hopes, patience, and sacrifice.. i guess this last piece of repetitive line signals the start of his complete loss of hope for ever having this person that he'd feel better [though not goot] disappearing than to stick around, waiting for miracles to happen.. the sad part is, you never really know if they are to arrive or not. so with this he keeps on hoping, but one day decides that he's had enough.. if nothing's really there, then he suggests that the person should move on and forget about him and all of the things he has done, all the sacrifices and risks he has taken.. and he'll do the same. just forget me, it's that simple [but] i don't think that you know what you've been missing. =( |

"We're both pretty sure Neither one can tell.." it's like they give hints that they like each other and they understand the clues, only that i think these 2 people never really seem to find time to actually talk through it [probably they're not yet ready or they're scared of whatever might happen next] "... We seem difficult What we got is hard as hell" it seems that not being honest to each other is the safest thing to do, but at the same time they find it really hard and painful to wait for someone to speak up "Not that you're the one Not to say I'm right Not to say today And not to say a thing tonight" the "confrontation" gets shrugged off each time they meet or talk.. they always put it off until the next time they see each other [or at least that's how i see it] "And we are leaving some things unsaid And we are breathing deeper instead" these 2 keep giving off clues [probably more of the subliminal] that they like each other, but they never really confirm it as in "verbally" with the exact words "We sing ourselves to sleep Watching the day lie down instead" maybe "sing ourselves to sleep" means that when they're together, they try not to make the most out of the chance to finally confess, thinking that making a move would leave things in a rather [ugly] unexpected state.. so they end up feeling discontented after a day ends that they're around each other this song was done beautifully by the fray.. i think the mood set by this song magnifies its meaning of desperation for the truth and the unknown.. idk, i see it revolving more of around the "friends [or special friends] zone" hehe |
