I love both bands and totally agree that the original is better. But what cover is actually better than the original? Thursday's version is listenable... it's actually pretty good. The singer is covering a completely different language and the band is covering a completely different genre.. and they did a good job with it, IMO. It's not like this song is on their album, it's just a cover song they did for fun. You can tell that the band really likes Sigur Ros, so is it wrong for them to cover one of their favourite band's songs? |

anthony was brought up in a catholic family, and i think the song's related to him losing faith in God. and the song title kinda gives it away this building smells so familiar - he's probably describing a church, how Catholics go every Sunday, so yeah it's pretty familiar and in a daydream i imagined my house when all my fathers sense of strength was lost - he's imagining what his life would be like without God it's all we have it's all we have so find me a place to begin - faith is all he has, he's losing it and he doesn't know what to believe and if i can get this feeling to end trembling idle hands holding me there - he wants to believe still, he doesn't have much faith left we laugh in the face of love cause nobodys really there nobody's real... - here he's saying God doesn't exist basically desire, i would try it either way - maybe he's talking about sex, or drugs, something he's been told was sinning by the church we believe in something invisible - it's hard to believe in something that you can't see this sense of smell that you used all your life well now you know you father lied - sense of smell refers to what you think, your opinions/beliefs, anthony's were probably shaped by his father. or he could be refering to father as in a priest, and how he thinks priests are lying about God? and i could never find my way without but you're already there - God helped him through hard times and we, we've come along way without without maps in our hands - the map could refer to the all the evidence today that God doesn't exist, and he's saying life was better when he believed in God |
