I was told, so I dont know if this is true, that Bert had a girlfriend who died of an overdose? If that is true, I think that he's basically singing from her point of view. Or at least they way he hope she felt. Could be wrong. |

I think this song is absolutely amazing, the way he includes the chorus from "kissing you goodbye" over lapped with the lyrics in this song. I also love the "epic" feel they've given this song as well, I think it's absolutely brilliant, with the static, and then they turn the static into a beat before it comes in. Fantastic ending track. Lyrically, I think it speaks for it's self. |

the fire bit, according to chris columbus, was just because he thought it was such a rock and roll moment with the music that they should create mayhem, really opens up the film version good. best part in the movie version when Benny gets out of the car and sings "draw a line in the sand and then make a stand" All the hairs stand up everytime i hear that part. It just works so well. |

"Maybe he sees alcohol as his kryptonite." i think thats about as accurate as you can get for this song. you listen to other songs and you will notice how he describes alcohol being a big part of his life not only does it make his depression worse it also causes him to mess other things up. he's basically saying, he could be a hero, but hes an alcoholic, so he's just a zero so basically ..alcohol is his kryptonite... its his weakness that is destroying him. |

Ive felt the way this song explains once. so i kinda understand it. The how will i break the news to you. it is very hard, to tell someone, who alltogether does love you, that it just cant be, even though deep down inside you want it too. I was one of the hardest things ive ever had to do. the lines; "I love you, however..." and "you're the metaphors i can't create to comprehend this curse that i call love" They still choke me up everytime i hear it. |

This has gotta be one of the most beautiful songs i've heard in a long time. It's defiantly my favorite on the album. I don't even need to go on about what its about because it's obvious. It's just amazing. And really powerful. |
